Good morning! This will be short and sweet as I haven’t too much to report. Thank you for all of the birthday wishes! This past weekend was fun. We hit Montecito, Santa Barbara and then hit Ventura Harbor so the pup could go for a road trip too. She got her fish and chips, well, one chip. She has a sensitive stomach so we are very careful with her food. Fish, not breaded. As you can see from the photo she loves a good road trip.
I try to buy a book on my birthday each year but this year, I didn’t. All of the books I want are coming up on my hold list and when you read a book in a couple of sittings it’s hard to justify $28-$30 for a hardcover. I shall wait, patiently. Maybe not so patiently for My Heart is a Chainsaw.
I am currently reading We Were Never Here, the current Reese pick. It’s interesting.
In other news, I’ve been watching Only Murders in the Building with Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez. It is so good. If you have Hulu, check it out. It’s funny and charming and reminds me of old school mysteries.
Unfortunately my daughter is not feeling well. She just got tested so please pray, think good thoughts, etc. It’s very hard to tend to her from afar.

I hope your daughter is negative. I’m glad you had a great birthday! I hope you have read some great books. I am still reading poetry.
We have not had the need to test for COVID but I am surprised that it still takes so long to get a result back. Two days is a long time for a kid to be in residential housing, potentially exposing others.
Sorry she’s not feeling well. Praying she gets better ASAP! Sounds like you had a very nice birthday 🙂 I love that you buy a book on your birthday – such a great tradition. But, I get why you didn’t this year. I just went through my books and have a pile that I’m getting rid of. Makes me wish I hadn’t bought them – some were just ‘meh’ and the others are ones I don’t even remember reading. I think I’m going to stick with only buying books by my favorite writers – those are usually the only ones I want to keep. I am loving Only Murders in the Building – such a fun show! I still need to watch this week’s ep. I was going to watch Impeachment – the new Ryan Murphy show – but now I’m not so sure. Anyhow, hope you have a great rest of the week Ti 🙂

I hope your daughter’s results come back negative. I know the wait sucks. We’ve had to test my daughter 4 times already – all negative thank goodness but ugh, so frustrating! Only one of those tests was the 15 minute one, for all others we were quarantined for 2 days.
Glad you had a great birthday weekend! I know what you mean about buying books only to wrap them up so quickly. I use that excuse to not read them for years, lol! That’s just as bad of course.

I hope your daughter tests negative. I don’t know which test we do at work but we test every Mon. & Thurs. and it only takes 15 min. for our results. Waiting 2 days is way too long!

My sister just recommended the Hulu mystery series to us. I’m glad to see that you liked it, too.
Hardcover books are ridiculously expensive. I’m trying to buy only the books that I plan to linger over.

BTW, if you are really interested in getting back to more children’s books, you might think about volunteering for the Cybils. The Cybils still need more judges, especially for Easy Readers/Early Chapter Books and all the nonfiction categories.
Oh, my fingers are crossed that Emma is feeling better and that it isn’t COVID. Of course, if it isn’t, she still feels crummy and being a distant helper is so tough!
I heard an NPR interview with Martin Short about the Steve Martin/Martin Short/Selena Gomez show and it sounds really good.
