Sunday Matters: Headed to Surgery

Sunday Matters

Last month I shared a Life Update and since then I’ve been anxiously waiting for these two surgeries to be scheduled. They are next week, 1/9 and 1/10. Cannot wait. It’s weird to be eager for brain surgery but let’s go.

These steroids to control swelling have kept me up for two weeks. No sleep but I am not even tired. Just a little on edge.

I would appreciate prayers heading into this, good thoughts, all of it. Prayers that it is benign. Smooth recovery and no complications. My daughter will be down for the surgeries but has to be back at school on 1/15.

In the meantime I’m reading and just resting. This last week a few more symptoms popped up. I’m isolating to avoid COVID too. That is the last thing I need.

Have a great weekend. It’s cold here but I am cozy and well.

Sunday Matters: Reading Typically Follows Real Life

Sunday Matters

Given my recent health news I find it funny that the two books I am reading right now focus on brain activity, Happiness Falls and The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian. It’s wild to be reading about how brains work when your own is going into overtime and honestly, hanging in there.  My reading goal was not met and won’t be and I’m not sure I will do a “best of” list this year. I am just easing into the end of the year and not going to stress out about anything if possible. I want books, and eggnog and fun holiday movies, on the couch with my fluffy blanket.

Right Now:

Student ministry is on break for a few weeks and I am off from work until 1/2. I didn’t take as much time off this year since the kids aren’t here and I will probably need that time later anyway. Should be a nice break. I am volunteering for two services on Christmas eve and will be bulking up on all natural remedies because last year when I worked kids I got the plague.

This Week:

Last night we hit a local taco joint with another couple. This place hands you a box of tacos and you eat in the car. There is something very comforting about delicious tacos eaten inside a car as the windows get all steamed up. Ha. I always look forward to that first bite.

Grateful for:

I am very grateful for the time off, and that at the moment, I am feeling pretty good. My mind keeps wandering but I just need to keep pulling myself back. I’ll be better once the surgeries are scheduled. As of now that has not happened.

Have a great week. Please share your holiday plans with me. Any traveling?

Merry Christmas
