Sunday Matters: Welcome, October

Sunday Matters

Good morning! And just like that, we are in October. Isn’t it unreal? I am pulling out my Halloween viewing list and setting that DVR to record.

Freeform 31 Nights of Halloween

Right Now:

Headed to student ministry in a bit. Grabbing coffee and a quick bite first. It got warm again. We had a few nice days of cooler weather but it’s hot again and has been a little windy. Wind and heat do not mix in dry, dry, Southern California.

This Week:

No word on work yet. People must be very busy. I will just continue to plug along from home unless I hear otherwise.

My daughter’s bday is this week. It will be weird to not have her here but she has all kinds of fun planned.

I’m starting to organize my planner for the upcoming year. Right now, not much to add to it. I like it that way, actually.

Reading:

I am finishing up (hopefully) The Night She Disappeared by Lisa Jewel. My review should post this week. I thought I’d have it up last Friday but I never got to it.

I finally got My Heart is a Chainsaw and it is weird. It’s just like the “final girl” season of American Horror Story, the one about the 80s camp slasher. I mean, very much like it. I waited forever for the book to come in so I will finish it but right now I am conflicted over it.

Watching:

We started American Horror Story: Part 2. Looks to be an “alien” theme. I am here for it.

Have to work in my Hocus Pocus viewing. I only watched that movie for the first time two years ago but I really think it’s fun. It’s now a fave.

Grateful for:

  • My knee continues to improve. Maybe in a week I can take the pup for a short walk.
  • My daughter was awarded a COVID relief grant at school. $1000 we were not expecting. Very grateful. She can use it.

Have a wonderful Sunday. I am starting to feel like it’s Crock Pot season but now that I am vegetarian and gluten free, it will take some experimenting. Chili and cornbread sounds really good.

Sunday Matters: Returning?

Sunday Matters

Good morning! It’s been a little cooler here but very hazy from all the smoke coming in from Northern California. It casts an orange tone to everything giving me this sepia view of the world around me. The pup doesn’t care for it because it interferes with her “sun” time.

Right Now:

Heading to student ministry soon. The rest of the day is wide open after 1pm.

Yesterday we hit the Getty Center museum and I will share photos from that in another post. It had been a long time since we’ve been there so it was super enjoyable.

This Week:

I’m still trying t figure out my return date for work. It’s interesting because there’s been no info and I have asked. Seems like most of my colleagues are headed back 10/4. Am I going back too? Haven’t a clue. I would like to prepare because I have not one thing to wear. Not one thing.

Reading:

I am finishing up (hopefully) The Night She Disappeared by Lisa Jewel. I’ve done pretty well with her books. I looked back and I’ve read at least six by her. Oh, and I should have my review of Damnation Spring up soon. That one surprised me.

My RIP reading is not going great. I mean, I guess you can count the Jewel book but the books I want to read are still not in from the library yet. I’ve been saying this for weeks.

Watching:

We finished up American Horror Story: Part 1 of double feature. Boy, was it good. Probably one of the best seasons yet. Macaulay Culkin was so good in it. Not exactly sure when Part 2 starts.

I  keep seeing all the Hallmark Christmas promos and let me tell you, I am here for it. Those shows are so cozy and warm.

Grateful for:

  • It seems that my knee is slowly improving. Fairly certain it’s a torn meniscus. If it suddenly takes a turn for the worst I will hit the doc’s office. I just don’t think they can do much for it. I just need to stay off of it.
  • Book mail. It had been a long, long time since I received any book mail and I was beginning to wonder what the deal was. But the other day I saw a package hidden on my porch and it was a copy of My Monticello! Yay! When you are home all day long working, receiving book mail really cheers the soul.

Have a wonderful Sunday. Read something good, do something fun, or just rest.
