I finally got to the beach last Saturday. It was great. The weather was cool but still sunny. We walked the pier, the town, had a great fajita lunch and then ice cream. Of course! On the drive home I stopped at one of my fave Indie bookstore, The Book Jewel. I visited the bookstore cat, Paiges although she had just woken from a nap and wasn’t social. Ha. I bought a copy of Verity. I have heard so much buzz about that book. I have to see what all the fuss is about.
Although LA is headed for another mask mandate, everything is ramped up again as far as activities and calendar appointments. I will admit, I feel a little overwhelmed when I have more than a few things on the calendar these days. Since I have been sharing my car with my daughter over the summer I have to plan accordingly too because some days I am without a car so that limits when I can do things. I’ve been trying to schedule some coffee dates and the soonest I can schedule is September. That seems wrong.
On another note, with all the comings and goings of my kids, the garage is a war zone. I put a sun umbrella out there the other day and a huge wall of their crap came tumbling down on top of me. Needless to say I will be spending time out there this week getting rid of stuff. And you know what? All the Halloween stores have already put signage up so I am feeling the fall push to organize. I mean, I can’t even get to my fall decorations at this point.
I mentioned that I was in a cooking mood the other day. Well, nope, that didn’t happen. It just seemed like too much effort to go to the market and buy stuff. Easier to eat a yogurt bowl or a bowl of cereal.
I don’t have big plans for the rest of the week. I have to work on a writing project that I have and of course I will be reading more of Irving’s The Last Chairlift.
Are you hyped for fall already or do you wish things would slow down a little? I love fall but I feel like I missed summer so fall can hold off a bit.
I’m glad you got to the beach. Sounds like a good trip with good food and books. I am the same about too many things on the schedule. I start to feel overwhelmed by it. I have to remember to take breaths and tackle things a little at a time. Have a great week.
Your outing to the beach, lunch and bookstore sounds like fun! It feels like we’re still waiting for summer and people are already talking about fall events. It was 102 in Portland yesterday. 52 here. Crazy!
You’ll have to let me know how you like Verity. My daughter (almost 40) and all her friends loved it, but I’m wondering if I’m in the wrong demographic for it. 😉
Your beach trip sound very nice, and love that you also went to a bookstore! Love the photo of the beach!
I am SO hyped for fall, but it still feels very far away. We’ve got all of August to get through (which I know is going to be miserably hot), which includes the worst weeks of hurricane season (ugh), and then September probably won’t be much better. October, though! I am desperately looking forward to October!
I’m not even thinking about fall yet. I would love to get some rain and I wish we had a little less heat.
Your excursion to the beach and the bookshop sounds delightful!
I don’t want it to be Fall yet, but my move is putting me in the mood (need) to organize. I am purging as I pack. That’s a good thing, right?
I wish time would slow down! Summer is flying by too quickly. Which beach is that? I might be at the OC in a couple weekends. It will be nice to feel the Ocean. I’ll be wearing a mask on the plane … just got my #4 vaccine …
It was Seal Beach!! A lovely beach town with shops and restaurants.
