Sunday Matters: Arrival Pending

Sunday Matters

Hello! Hope you are enjoying a nice, relaxing Sunday. It’s starting to look like Christmas over here. The Girl arrives late Wednesday night. Cross your fingers and pray that she makes her connecting flight. My son doesn’t arrive until Christmas Eve but that will be here before we know it.

Right Now:

I am heading out to meet the students at church in a  little bit. I love this time of the year. So much excitement over finals, winter break, parties and the like. I am looking forward to the time off and spending as much of it as possible with the kids.

This Week:

As I said, The Girl arrives Wednesday.

Friday, we have tickets to Hamilton and thus begins my vacation through January 9th.

Reese’s Book Club has a pop-up bookstore at a local mall. I would like to visit it. I had planned to visit on Black Friday and then came to my senses. Ha! Maybe I can fit a trip in this week.

Reading:

My reading is still limping along. I am not nauseous from the meds anymore and my interest is beginning to return. I picked up Greenwich Park and I think it will work well for me right now.

Greenwich Park

Watching:

None of this is new but my Christmas movie watching has begun. Four Christmases and Die Hard can be checked off the list. Still to watch:

  • The Family Stone
  • Christmas Vacation
  • Jingle all the Way
  • Elf
  • Deck the Halls
  • Christmas with the Kranks
  • Home Alone
  • It’s a Wonderful Life
  • A Christmas Story
  • Love Actually
  • Meet Me in St. Louis
  • Planes, Trains and Automobiles

Um, there is a lot to watch.

Knee MRI Update:

  • Torn meniscus
  • Torn ACL
  • A cyst
  • Something wrong with my bone marrow in one spot.
  • Doc to evaluate with me soon.

Grateful for:

  • Cozy evenings by the Christmas tree. Me, my blanket, the pup and my book. I am so glad to be reading again.
  • Thursday night service at church. I volunteer for most of Sunday so I am so glad that Thursday night services are back. It’s so peaceful and not that populated.

Have a wonderful Sunday and great week!

Sunday Matters: Still Plugging Along

Sunday Matters

Hello! As you can tell from my posting schedule I am still out of sorts health wise. I considered a total break from the blog but it’s the end of the year and you know, there’s still a reading goal to make and some reviews to write. So here I am just doing my best and that’s okay. Just know that my posting may be erratic and depending on the day, may contain a lot of chatter.

Right Now:

I am heading out for my volunteer gig which will keep me busy until 1pm or so. Then, a nap on the couch and an early dinner, whatever that may be.

This Week:

I have my knee MRI this Tuesday.

On Wednesday my book club is meeting for dinner and a book exchange. We normally meet at someone’s home but we are meeting at a restaurant this year. Should be fun.

Reading:

Not a thing. All this medication I am on makes me queasy and gives me a massive headache. I said this exact thing last week and it still applies this week but perhaps I am turning a corner because reading sounds appealing to me now. I will review my review copies and library holds and see if anything jumps out at me.

Watching:

Not much. Lining up the Christmas “must-see” movies so we can get to them before Christmas.

Grateful for:

  • It’s kind of silly but I was really getting into Bible journaling before COVID but I left all my fun pens at work. Well, I just bought new ones so I can journal again from home. I am grateful for all the fun ways to journal these days.
  • Root Beer, the cat. This is the feral cat that my son adopted in Kansas. She has provided hours of entertainment and companionship for my son in that small, dusty little town of 1200 people.

Have a wonderful Sunday and great week!
