Sunday Matters: Summer Is Here

Sunday Matters

It’s not officially summer but with school out for both kids it sure feels like it. The university however is year-round so once the spring semester ended we went right into summer term. The campus is nice and quiet though and there are many lovely reading spots to be had as long as you don’t mind being attacked by a squirrel (it has happened twice).

Totally random but after my lip swelling incident I cannot find a lip product (gloss, lipstick or balm) that I can wear without another allergy attack. The only color I put on my face comes from lipstick so without color I look like a corpse. Please help with suggestions if you have any.

Right Now:

At this moment I am eating toast and sipping coffee while watching the news. Today is a big day for the student ministry because my 8th grade group moves up to high school. I am moving with them so there is change all around but it’s kind of exciting.

This Week:

This is the week before two weeks of Shrek, The Musical so I am going to just ease into it. It’s a busy time but since my daughter doesn’t have a lead, the call times are a little easier to manage and working backstage is always a lot of fun and yes, a little hectic sometimes. Crawling across the floor to get props to a kid while ripping my pants will always be a highlight for me.

For this week, rest, life group (hopefully) and a pesky dental appointment for The Girl.

Reading:

I am starting Do Not Be Alarmed which sounds really good from the blurb. I am also working on my summer reading list. I’ve seen two lists so far across the blogging world and I am so anxious to get my list together. I am also drooling over all the books from BEA. The covers!! I am a cover snob and the covers this year are just so good. How can I turn them down?

Watching:

Not watching anything actively but I am in the mood to watch Some Like It Hot. It’s playing on the big screen right now in some theaters and I have it recorded so it will most likely be watched soon. If you haven’t seen this Monroe movie, you must!

Making:

I saw a video recipe for lemon butter chicken which looks great! I would love to make for dinner tonight. I love these short cooking videos because they are often easy to copy and give me lot of ideas about what to cook next. I love to cook but TIME is a beast I’ve not successfully beat as of yet.

I am really wanting one of these Rhubarb Mint Juleps.

Grateful for:

I am an open book when it comes to feelings but you’d be amazed at how many people I interact with that haven’t a clue how difficult this past year has been for me. But then there are some who don’t even know me that well and they just know what to say and when to say it and I am thankful for them.

Blue Skies

It’s Thursday (not quite Friday) but after a hot spell it’s cool and beautiful and when I came in this morning I could see clear, blue skies for miles. The air is a little crisp too. So lovely after the pit of hell (heat) I was thrown into last week.

Memorial Day weekend is right around the corner and it has me thinking about grilled burgers with melty cheese and hammocks, even though I do not own one and would not even attempt to get into one.  But the IDEA of swinging in one is nice.

Plus, reading is always especially fun this time of the year. I am trying really hard to get through my review copies. They are pretty good but they are all being released at the same time so my timing was a little off there.  Since there are so many review copies, I will highlight the one library book that I really want to get to soon, Under the Harrow.

Under the Harrow

The write-up sounds great but the reviews I’ve read really make it sound like a must-read.

Will I get to it this weekend? Not likely. But, I have hope. What do you have planned this weekend? I just want to read, lounge and eat yummy stuff.
