R.I.P XVI Challenge – 2021

RIP XVI Challenge - 2021It’s that time of the year again!! Time for the R.I.P XVI Challenge! Each year this challenge gets easier and easier. Basically, you grab your scary reads and movies and enjoy them from September 1 – October 31. There is also a Group Read component if you are interested in that. Just follow @perilreaders on Twitter or Instagram for all the details.

As you know, I was away for a little bit and this challenge, although one of my faves snuck up on me. I don’t have a formal list of reads or movies but there are some horror movies that I wouldn’t mind seeing:

  • The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (daughter said it was terrifying)
  • Candyman
  • American Horror Stories: Double Feature (already watching)

For books, I am thinking about these:

As you can see, I am pretty loose and flexible this year. Just going with mood and what feels good. Are you joining the fun?

R.I.P Challenge, #14

RIP Challenge #14

It’s almost September and you know what that means…

The Readers Imbibing Peril challenge is just around the corner. This is the only challenge I participate in. The. Only. One. Here are the details so you can join. Full details can be found on this page.

The purpose of the R.I.P. Challenge is to enjoy books that could be classified as:

Mystery.
Suspense.
Thriller.
Dark Fantasy.
Gothic.
Horror.
Supernatural.
The emphasis is never on the word challenge, instead it is about coming together as a community and embracing the autumnal mood, whether the weather is cooperative where you live or not.

The goals are simple.

1. Have fun reading.

2. Share that fun with others.

There are different levels of participation which even include movies which I am always down for. Besides my usual Halloween picks, like Halloween and The Shining, I plan to read Stephen King’s new book The Institute!

The Institute
