The holidays have ended for me and I am back in the office . We had a nice Christmas and New Years. Most of us got sick (Hub and myself), just bad colds but it was nice to be able to stay home and rest. All plans cancelled. Numerous naps, movies, reading. I am still wrapping up my first book of the year, Lessons in Chemistry. I missed all the “first book” hoopla because just the thought of writing a post gave me a headache but I do love that event and cheered for all the picks from my sick bed. You all picked some good ones.
My days at home have been filled with cat wrangling. Jinx wants to play. She is only 4 months old but the Otter Pup sees her playing as bullying. Honestly, she is a thug and a bit rough. She is climbing all over everything and the pup feels responsible for her so she’s been a nervous wreck. Jinx and my daughter head back 1/21. It went by super fast, although my pup probably doesn’t think that.
We’ve been enjoying some weather. A Bomb Cyclone which brought lots of rain and snow to the mountains. My yard flooded at one point but then the rain just stopped and that gave it all a chance to drain away. As I type this, it’s really coming down out there.
I am going to keep this brief because being back at work is rough after so much time off but I just wanted to check in and wish everyone a good 2023.
How are you?
It has been cold and crisp and we’ve even had rain! As I was walking around campus I grabbed this photo of the sun through the clouds. It makes for great walking weather.
Guess what? My daughter got the lead in the Spring production of Waiting for Lefty! She plays a disgruntled union organizer. Quite different from what she is used to playing.
Speaking of The Girl. She arrives on Friday with the kitty in tow. That is the first day of my vacation so I will get them from the airport once she lands. The Otter Pup will be so excited to see her Sis Sis. The kitty, not so much.
This is the part of December where it all becomes a blur. Shipping deadlines are coming up if they haven’ hit already. End of the year lists take center stage. First book of the year becomes a thing. It’s my favorite time of the year so it would be great if it slowed down a little bit.
I am still reading Murakami’s latest, Novelist as a Vocation. It’s a book about this writing process so it’s very thoughtful and not something you blow through. Once done, I will begin the Harry Potter series since I never actually finished it. Should be a fun distraction for break.
This Saturday we have dental appointments, and then later that night we drive around with friends to view the lights. There are a lot of lights this year. The Girl will be working at the theater box office. Sunday is the student ministry party.
I leave you with a recent pic of Root Beer:
My entire family watches Seinfeld so Festivus was bound to make an appearance.
How are you?
