The Short of It:

Unexpectedly clever.

The Rest of It:

I read Telephone some time back and I am just now sitting down to write up my thoughts. This book was chosen for my book club and what appeared to be a story about a father and his terminally ill daughter, turned out to be a lot more. A lot.

There are failed relationships. Pleas for help from women who have been trafficked. Uncomfortable interactions between colleagues. Come to find out, the author has three slightly different versions of this book. Between the members of my club all three versions were read and when we came together to discuss the book, we quickly realized endings were different.

I really enjoyed the writing even though the story seemed a little choppy in places. I definitely appreciated its uniqueness. Our club will be reading his new book later this year (James).

Sunday Matters: Headed to Surgery

Sunday Matters

Last month I shared a Life Update and since then I’ve been anxiously waiting for these two surgeries to be scheduled. They are next week, 1/9 and 1/10. Cannot wait. It’s weird to be eager for brain surgery but let’s go.

These steroids to control swelling have kept me up for two weeks. No sleep but I am not even tired. Just a little on edge.

I would appreciate prayers heading into this, good thoughts, all of it. Prayers that it is benign. Smooth recovery and no complications. My daughter will be down for the surgeries but has to be back at school on 1/15.

In the meantime I’m reading and just resting. This last week a few more symptoms popped up. I’m isolating to avoid COVID too. That is the last thing I need.

Have a great weekend. It’s cold here but I am cozy and well.
