Good morning! It’s been really nice in my part of Southern California. Cool in the mornings and evenings but nice and sunny for most of the day. Makes me feel optimistic for spring.
Right Now:
Enjoying some coffee and avocado toast before I head to student ministry. My son picked up some “hot honey” with green chiles when he drove through New Mexico and it is so good on my toast.
This Week:
My campus is not closed on President’s Day so I will be working tomorrow. No long weekend for me. Hope those of you that have it off make the most of it.
This week I am re-doing all my “to be read” lists because they are terribly out of date and I fell so behind after my surgery. I am going to start fresh and stop talking about it and just get on it. I have so many books that I want to get to. Big releases and the like. This will also give me something to occupy my hands and brain since I am a little antsy these days.
On a sad note, my BIL passed away the day before Valentine’s Day. It was a combination of things but it was a sudden trip to the hospital and then a coma from there. My husband is now the only child. He lost his other brother a few years ago from something similar that runs in the family. Not sure about a service yet.
Reading:
Watching:
Still watching All of Us Are Dead. A Korean zombie show on Netflix. It is perfect for me right now. Entertaining. Besides the subtitles it requires little brain activity to watch.
Grateful for:
- The Otter Pup and how gracious she has been to Root Beer the cat. She gets a little bossy now and then but she really likes her! She is so close to napping with her.
- This is kind of silly but we had new bathroom faucets put in and I love them. We were dealing with slow leaks and they were so old we couldn’t get replacement parts so we bought the faucets and had them switched out. Finally.
Have a wonderful Sunday and great week!
Please pass my condolences on to your husband. He will be in my thoughts and prayers this week…New bathroom faucets aren’t silly at all. I know a few months ago, our tub faucet for the hot water was broken and we had to wait a week until it could be repaired. It was something we take for granted, and we were so thankful when it was fixed.
Thank you. It’s a very weird time right now.
And yes, new working faucets are very cool to have. They all started to go at the same time so we were down to two sinks.
So sorry to read about your BIL Ti. I can understand how tough that must be on your husband. When my second brother passed away and my parents were already gone, I felt like an orphan even though I was in my 50s.
Glad Otter Pup is beginning to enjoy RootBeer. As for books I need to move on from many early requests I never got to as well. I do hope that your reading picks up.
The BIL thing is unfortunate but not unexpected in that bad livers are a thing in this family. I will leave it at that.
Root Beer and Chloe are friends and I worry that Chloe will be sad when she does leave. Chloe has never really had a friend except for her neighbor friend Lucy the dog. She is a loner, typically.
I am so sorry to hear about your BIL! It must be so sad and strange for your husband to be the last sibling and he’s not very old.
New bathroom faucets are nothing to belittle! It’s all those small things and fixes that make our lives so much easier.
I also will work tomorrow but am hoping it’s a quiet day with most clients taking the holiday 🙂
My husband’s side of the family is in a weird place right now. Sad. In disbelief. Everything feels like it’s moving in slow motion.
Spring in Southern California is always so nice. I sure would love some warmer temps – even the low 60s would be great. We’ve been in the mid-40s for weeks!
Re-organizing your TBR lists sounds like a good project. I recently rearranged all the books in my TBR bookcase and have enjoyed reading some of the books that have been there for years, if not decades. I’ve also discarded several that no longer appeal and it feels great to see some gaps between books. Progress! 🙂
I am so sorry about your brother-in-law. Sending your husband, you and your family my sympathies, Ti.
Thank you for your kind words. My husband did get to see his brother before he passed. He was over two hours away but we made the drive the day after my surgery. It was rough all around. He wasn’t conscious but it was good that he saw him.
I’m so sorry to hear about your BIL… it must be especially hard for your husband to be the last sibling. Will keep you all in my prayers.
Yes. He gets hit with a wave of sadness but my MIL is the one I really worry about. To lose two sons so close to one another and for them to be so young.
My sympathies on your loss
My TBR is a symbol of hope rather than reality 🙂
Wishing you a great reading week
Symbol of hope. I like that a lot.
So sorry to hear that you BIL passed away. Hugs to all of you. I hope that you are still recovering well. Like you, I don’t have this holiday off, but whatcha gonna do. My daughter is happily playing with kids in the neighborhood today since it is so warm.
I’m sorry about your brother-in-law as well. It’s tough coming to terms with losing siblings. Always seems ways too soon. Take care all of you and glad you’re feeling better after your surgery and now with your boy home.
Thank you. It’s a bit of a strange time now.
Sending you and your hubby hugs and sympathy. My hubby and I have both lost a sibling. It is terrible. I love it when dogs and cats get along.
We are in Florida traveling around and visiting all the people we know down here. A nice break from the cold weather. Getting no reading done. 😂
