Hello friends! Here in Southern California, summer can go on for a long, long, time. BUT, all of a sudden it feels like fall to me. The other day we had a freak downpour that came out of nowhere, a few gloomy mornings and it’s been getting dark early. Time to light those candles!
Yesterday we got our flu shots and then had a lovely dinner with friends. The last time we had dinner was right before the initial shutdown. I was still working and I remember how unsure we were about the future of the virus. It felt really good to spend time with them after so long.
Update: the girl is negative for COVID.
Right Now:
In a little bit I will head to church for student ministry. I am having a blast in this new role I have. I get to spend a lot of time with ALL of the students and many of the leaders. It’s fun to see where these students go with their faith.
When I get home at 1:30pm, I plan to hang out on the couch with Hamnet.
This Week:
I am hosting my book club this week to discuss Hamnet. It came up on me fast. I think we will meet on my patio.
I had a mammogram the other day and it came back suspect. This often happens with me so on Thursday I have to go to a hospital in the valley for additional testing. While there, I will meet up with a co-worker for lunch. I think it will be okay but positive thoughts and prayers are welcome.
Reading:
I finished and reviewed We Were Never Here. My library hold for My Heart is a Chainsaw hasn’t come in yet for RIP. Plus, my book club meeting came up fast so I will focus on finishing Hamnet and then hopefully by then my library hold will come in.
Watching:
American Horror Story: Double Feature is really good and Only Murders in the Building with Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez has been really fun on Hulu. It reminds me of old school Clue.
Grateful for:
- My daughter’s negative COVID test. She missed the entire week of school. Still feels sick but hey, it’s not COVID.
- My son finally got his car back from Kia! The dealership in Wichita called him to tell him it was there so he went to pick it up. I mailed his car registration sticker to him just the day before so now he has the car to put it on.
- Time. I’ve been collecting things to donate and I’ve had the time to finally sort through it all. A lot of it came from my daughter’s discards. The pup thinks we did away with her LOL.
Have a wonderful Sunday and check in if you can!
I have had the same issue with mammograms over the years. Always comes back GOOD. Prayers go out, though. Enjoy your reading.
All good thoughts for your doctor’s appointment. I’m way overdue for a mammogram; gotta get that taken care of this fall. Glad to hear your daughter’s COVID test results were negative!
Thank you. I had to delay the original mammogram because it conflicts with the COVID vax so I was a bit late with it this year. This weird result could still be due to the shot since the issue is on the side I got the vax on.
I’m not ready for fall, but the leaves are beginning to pile up on the paths in our neighborhood, so I guess it’s inevitable.
So glad to hear that your daughter tested negative for Covid. I just read an article (on NPR) about the “mild” symptoms of breakthrough cases. I sure don’t want to experience what I had after my 2nd shot for an entire week. That doesn’t sound “mild” to me!
I hope you hear good news about your mammogram follow-up. I’ve had to do the same with “suspect” paps and it’s always unnerving until you get the all clear call.
Glad your son finally got his car!
Good news for both of your kids – no covid and finally a car! I’ve had extra testing after mammogram and was a nervous wreck for a couple of weeks. Sending positive thoughts and I hope you don’t have to wait too long for results. Thanks for the flu shot reminder… never got around to it last week. Enjoy your book club meeting!
The center I am going to for the follow up said I will have results before I leave.
I sending positive vibes your way but in my late 40’s and early 50s I had similar experiences, it’s common it seems. Glad E does not have COVID but too bad about missing classes. And, great your son finally has his car back. Have a good week.
My brother in Pasadena tested negative a couple times but he was sick for 2 to 3 weeks and it seems likely he had Covid. Gulp. I’m not saying your daughter has it but just to be careful and keep monitoring. I’m happy she tested negative! And hope she feels well soon. I’ll be curious to hear how your book club discussion goes …. I ended up liking the novel Hamnet. Cheers.
A negative COVID result and a returned car?! Celebration time!
I am sorry there is something suspect about your mammogram. I had that happen in the spring and even had a biopsy, but it all came out clear. So, I will hold you in my thoughts and hope it all comes out alright.
I’m glad there is good news on the car and the COVID test. Sorry about the mammo, but I feel you and I am still sending you positive thoughts just in case!
I read one poetry book over my long weekend, but that was it. But hey, sent out 8 poetry submissions, so that’s something.
So glad that the girl is negative for COVID! My grandson got tested because he wasn’t feeling well and his was negative too.
Poor pups, they never know what’s going on when things change and I bet it is hard for them. Especially when a person they love is no longer there. B she’ll be so happy when she comes home for a visit 🙂
The pup gets so confused because she hears them on FaceTime and will come tearing down the stairs but when I show her the video she won’t look at it, just continues to look for them in the house.
Awww! 😦
