My poor blog has taken a hit these past few weeks. Lots of reading going on but with school starting back up, reviews are pending. I think I will be in better shape next week.
Right Now:
I am a in a strange place right now. I am excited about the school year but already exhausted. Somehow, I find myself full of purpose which adds to the exhaustion because I want to do ALL the things. Why couldn’t I be this motivated at say, age 20?
This Week:
Classes start this week at the university and we are expecting over twelve thousand freshman this fall. This is a record number for us. There will be a lot of hustle this week but it’s an exciting time too. I love seeing those shiny new faces.
On a personal note, my daughter ended up getting the part of Ross in Macbeth. This is new for her. She’s been in many musicals but never a dramatic play. They are doing a gender switch for some roles including Macbeth. Rehearsals ave already started. Rehearsals and auditions for Annie start September 9th so on with the shows, as they say!
Reading:
I am attending a book discussion this week for Judas by Amos Oz. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I read it. I really had no idea what direction it would take. It was an interesting read for sure. Hope to have the review up soon.
Also, my daughter’s competition theatre team is doing Jesus Christ Superstar and the musical this year is Godspell. It was fitting that I read a book titled Judas while all these show decisions were being made. I see a trend, no?
Watching:
Last week Fear the Walking Dead aired a pretty good episode. Finally! Other than that though, just watching Seinfeld. I need humor in my life.
New Things I’ve Tried:
I’ve been floundering around trying to figure out meals for this household of mine because with everyone home at different times I need easy, simple and quick. Stuff that can be put together quickly and often without my help because I am not always home to cook either.
Those delivery meal services would never work for me because my husband likes large portions and seconds and it just wouldn’t be cost effective for us. So, I’ve been buying meal bases and then adding things to them. Trader Joe’s has fried rice packs in the freezer section that cook up quickly and I just add shrimp or chicken. I’ve also tried their mashed cauliflower and added grilled steak for a quick meal.
I need to do more of this. Plus, I got some good meal planning tips last week from Bryan’s wife Kim. I hope to try them out soon.
Grateful for:
I am very grateful for my mail order pharmacy. We don’t take a lot of meds in my family but there are a few we do take and it’s just so easy for me to order them online and have them be delivered for free. My Kaiser is pretty nice but who wants to go there to pick up a bunch of germs with their meds? No one.
It’s almost fall! What are you looking forward to this fall? I am looking forward to King’s new book!
