Sunday Matters: His Last Week

Sunday Matters

Thank you for all of the birthday wishes. Yesterday we hit the Arboretum where we roamed around for a bit, and then we had a delicious pizza lunch at a place called The Luggage Room. REALLY tasty pizza and drinks.

Right Now:

At this moment I am just sitting here trying to recover from what wasn’t the best week. It had some good moments so it wasn’t all bad but things at work are challenging right now and at this age (after all I am a year older now) I have no patience for any of it.

This Week:

Ensemble rehearsals start for Annie which means auditions will soon follow. Can anyone take a guess at what my daughter plans to audition for? She is too old for Annie. There’s your hint.

I have a parent meeting to attend and a haircut appointment but that’s really it this week as far as extra stuff.

Oh, except for the fact that my son moves into Cal Poly San Luis Obispo on Saturday! We will all drive up. While my husband helps him load the stuff into his apartment, my daughter and I will get groceries and last minute items for him. He has three roommates but they all have a private bedroom. Classes start in a week.

Reading:

Don’t ask. Slacking in this department but King’s new book comes out on Tuesday!

Watching:

I watched one episode of The Boys. Super dark and a little demented. Not sure I’ll continue. Think The Avengers but mean-spirited perverted Avengers.

American Horror Story comes out on 9/18. I am really excited about it. It’s an 80s theme this time around.

New Things I’ve Tried:

I purchased some Sour Cherry Preserves from the Arboretum and had it on my toast this morning. Pretty darn good.

Grateful for:

Our sweet little pup. She has been so cute lately.

The weather is still warm for us but the summer hasn’t been bad at all. I DO feel like fall is in the air though. What are you looking forward to this fall? I have had about five Pumpkin Cream Cold Brews so far and I must say, I like it so much better than the Pumpkin Spice Lattes.

  1. So wait, how is your reading going? 😉 I’m sorry that things aren’t going well at work, especially on your birthday week…unfortunately, my birthday week, month, wasn’t super great either. And like you, I’m losing patience with it all. But on a happier note, fall is coming. I think what I’m looking forward to most is the fall readathon (Dewey’s 24 Hour) Oct. 26. I’m going to try to take that Saturday off. Fingers crossed, I can get it.

    1. 10/26 is an all day theatre competition. I might be able to read a little bit while working their camp setup but will mostly be running around. So, probably no read along for me.

Yesterday’s bday celebration made up for the crappy week. I spent three hours walking around in nature. Half my family got sick from too much sun but oddly enough I was good. Even my knee held up and didn’t even complain.

  2. Sounds like you had a nice birthday; sorry about work drama – that does tend to get old fast. I’ve been reading but, a slacker when it comes to reviews it seems.

  3. Those last few days before the kids leave are bittersweet, aren’t they?

We’ve had a hot, humid summer and the only sign of fall I see is shorter days. Still, I love summer so I’m trying not to complain too much.

    1. He did that college program for Disney Orlando last year so I had a little taste of him being gone for a good chunk of time but it feels different this time. At least he’s closer. I can get there in three hours.

  4. I hope your son has a wonderful time at Cal Poly; every student I know who has gone there or is currently there loves it. Good luck to your daughter; I hope we hear she will be Miss Hanigan (spelling?).

    1. On Hannigan, I hope so. It’s one of her dream roles. She has wanted to play drunk Ms. Hannigan since she was 4. We are very excited about Cal Poly. I am still a little sensitive over him not coming to CSUN, where I work but the class size for his major is so small there. Makes it so much more personable.

  5. We may plan a trip to the Arboretum soon-ish. I think it would be a nice little day trip. The pizza place sounds good too! I am sorry your week wasn’t better, Ti. I had a rough week too, although mine wasn’t so much because of work (although I can relate to having less patience . . . ). I’ve just been really down lately.

I hope rehearsals go well for Annie and your daughter gets the part of Miss Hannigan. She’d be great at it, I’m sure. My daughter’s second audition for party guest went well yesterday. We should know soon if she’s going to get the part.

Good luck to your son with his move (and to you too!).

I hope you have a better week this week, Ti.

  6. I hope this week is better for you. We all have those weeks at work, right? I hope he enjoys his new digs at school and that he has nice roommates.

I have had an exhausting first week back at work after 2 weeks off. This week is beginning with more catchup plus the same amount of work as usual…so….lol long days ahead for me.

I have fallen off the blog reviews; i have 2 books read from vacation still to review. but I do have some giveaways for peeps coming.

  7. Glad your week is calmer than usual. I’ve never seen Annie so I can’t make a guess at what role your daughter is going for. I hope you son loves his room, roommates, and college!

    1. I really hope his roommates work out okay. He had some pretty good ones when he did his internship at Disney World. You’ve never seen Annie? It’s not my favorite musical but this will be my daughter’s third time doing it and my son did it twice.

  8. Happy belated birthday. You should have a birthday week right? Treat yourself. And that’s very exciting about your son starting college! wow. I hope he likes his roommates and classes. Something tells me you will like the new King book — one review said it was scary. is it?
