Sunday Matters: Feeling Pensive

Sunday Matters

I am looking at the calendar and cannot believe that this school year is almost over. After next week we basically have one more month but what a month it is! So much going on. I love the idea of summer but summer is not slow for us. We just have different types of activities over the summer and they all present transportation challenges.

Right Now:

Meh. I am feeling “meh” again. Nothing a Matcha Latte can’t temporarily fix. It’s my new favorite thing.

This Week:

Two doc appointments. I try not to schedule two in the same week but sometimes it’s out of my hands.

The Girl is participating in a choir festival on Tuesday. This is a yearly thing and the same event where I stepped off a curb and landed right on my face. I have such a fear of that place now!

Reading:

I am reading The Flight Attendant. The reviews are kind of all over the place but it has started off good. It will be a TV movie soon starring Kaley Cuoco. I agree with the casting.

I should also start my book club pick for this month, A Gentleman in Moscow.

Free Books

There is still a little bit of time to download FREE Kindle eBooks for World Book Day! I picked up all of them! Thanks, Amazon!

Watching:

The Walking Dead is over until next season. This week I am focusing on Fear the Walking Dead. I sure hope this show continues to improve because it too, seems to be flailing a little.

Another blogger posted about a Netflix show called The 100. I thought it was a new series but I see that it started back in 2014. I had not heard of it before her post. Has anyone seen it? It sounds like my kind of thing.

Making:

I am seriously sick of everything. The idea of small bites sounds good but that’s pretty much it. Appetizers for dinner?  I could easily eat grilled fish every day but it’s not popular with the family AT ALL. Making anything good this week? Inspire me.

Grateful for:

Once in awhile I go along my merry way and then get derailed. When this happens, it’s like a wake-up call. Pay attention. Don’t take things for granted. Admit that you don’t have it all figured out. It’s a humbling experience, this process. I don’t enjoy it, but I am often grateful for the snap to attention that it provides.

You ever have one of those moments?

Sunday Matters: Say Hi to Mickey

Sunday Matters

As of this moment, my son is on a flight headed to Orlando for what we hope is an experience of a lifetime. The Disney College Program promises to be many things and it’s all very exciting. He was assigned to recreation at Typhoon Lagoon but it’s being refurbished so he will be temporarily reassigned. Right now, we have no idea where he will end up!! He finds out on Monday.

Right Now:

Just letting it all soak in. A tiny piece of me wants to tear his room apart because it is such a disaster. Deciding what to take and what to leave was difficult. As you can imagine, it’s quite a mess.

Oh, and his sister is already taking over his bathroom.

This Week:

We are in production week for The Music Man. Two weeks of shows but we’ve done this so many times I think we have it down.

The cast list was posted for Oklahoma! She will be in the ensemble and a ballet dancer. I am not familiar with the show so I am not sure what a ballet dancer is doing in Oklahoma! but I guess we will find out.

Other than shows, there is life group for me and volleyball practice for her but she’ll be missing her tournament on Saturday because of the show.

Reading:

I NEED to finish Seven Days of Us. It’s good but this last bit of it is a slog. If I can get through it, my next book will be Nomadland and The Book That Matters Most.

Watching:

I watched two episodes of that new show 9-1-1 and guess what? It’s horrible. It’s from the same guy who does American Horror Story and even features some of the same actors but the writing is simplistic at best and the acting and production quality leaves a lot to be desired. It is definitely not as good as Emergency! from the 70s. I am dating myself by mentioning it but I was a young child when it came out!

Emergency!

Making:

I made curry and rice one night, some pasta with olive oil, garlic, Compari tomatoes and loads of cheese and then the rest is like snack stuff. Avocado toast is what I have most days.

Grateful for:

The book club I belong to. We met recently to select our books for the year and it is always a good time. The list will be posted under the Book Club List tab soon. This club has been in existence for over nineteen years. More like twenty, really.

Your turn. What are you reading right now and what are you looking forward to this week?
