Sunday Matters: Almost There

Sunday Matters

I can’t even believe that Christmas Day is this week. This year the week just hit me in the face. We’ve had a hard time scheduling things and can’t even figure out which day we are attending the Christmas service. Every, single, day, presents a challenge in some way. It’s not all bad though. We’ve met a lot of new people this year and with new friends, comes new things you want to participate in. A good problem to have?

Right Now:

High School ministry is on break and our church has a Christmas service this morning but I think we are going to try to hit Monday’s service so we can be together but it may not work out.

I need to figure out what I am making Christmas day. I nixed the idea of going out. We do make Christmas dinner reservations most years but it’s been crowded and the food hasn’t been great so I want to make something myself this year. I will spend some time figuring that out today.

This Week:

Monday – possibly attend the Christmas service.

Tuesday – Spending Christmas Eve with the in-laws. We are having brunch this year. Then, my daughter has a singing gig at another church at 8pm and 11pm.

Wednesday – Christmas at home, then probably Star Wars.

Thursday or Friday – Disneyland!

Reading:

I just finished Promises of the Heart by Nan Rossiter.  I’ve read every book she’s written. This one is a little different. No beachy setting but it really spoke to my heart. Review coming very soon.

Guys, it’s impossible for me to believe but at the beginning of the year I signed up to read the Bible in a year and I finished early! What an accomplishment.

First book. I have no idea what my first book of the year will be but I am looking forward to picking it out!

Watching:

ALL the Christmas movies I can watch. Plus I recorded the All in the Family and Good Times (Live) event as well as the I Love Lucy Christmas Special. I plan to watch them this week.

New Things I’ve Tried:

I ordered some fancy tabs for my Bible on Etsy. I haven’t put them on yet but when I do, if they work out for me I’ll share the link in case anyone wants to get some. This lady makes tabs for planners too.

Grateful for:

With all the changes at work, (VP retiring, Interim VP named, permanent VP position posted, others retiring, me being moved to a different group, this downtime can’t come soon enough. I need a factory reset and I am glad to have time on the books for me to do just that.

How is your week looking? More shopping? I have a few items I need to get but honestly, I’m done for the most part. Trimming it all down this year.

Sunday Matters: How Are YOU Doing?

Right Now:

I am coming to you very late today! High school ministry meets in the morning now and I didn’t get my post written early enough to schedule it ahead of time so, here I am!

Obligatory tree shot. It took a lot of effort to get our decorations put up this year. We waited because of weather. I don’t think I will do that again in the future. The day after Thanksgiving I am all fired up to do it but a week or two later? Nope. Everything turned out great though.

This Week:

I like to think that my week starts on Monday but this week it started yesterday and included a lot of wrapping and baking. I got a lot done but my dining room table looks like a Christmas explosion.

My son is home! I still have four more days of work and my daughter has school this week as well. The Hub, also working but most of us will be off soon. My club has a party this week. I have a retirement party to attend this week as well. Fun stuff.

Reading:

I am reading Promises of the Heart by one of my favorite people, Nan Rossiter. I am also collecting reading ideas for my make-believe evening of reading on Christmas Eve. I say make-believe because I really want to do it, but my daughter was just hired to sing at someone’s church on Christmas Eve so now I am not sure how that will work.

Watching:

Haven’t made much of a dent in my Christmas movie watching. I will remedy that soon.

New Things I’ve Tried:

I bought a Danish Kringle from Trader Joe’s for this morning. Have you ever had one? I can’t eat it because of my allergies but it’s a delightful blend of sugary goodness. The Fam really enjoyed it.

Grateful for:

I’m grateful that I got some stuff done this weekend. I was fine but then everything started to ramp up and I got a little flighty. I’m good now. Just a few more days of work to go.

How are YOU all doing today?
