Sunday Matters: Football and Food

Sunday Matters

Even though today is a big day for football, I still have student ministry so I have food cooking away in the Crock Pot for later. I’ve recently gotten into football after getting looped into a football pool. I don’t bet real money but it’s made watching more enjoyable. We may even have a guest if my son arrives home from Kansas in time. We are keeping the food simple. Tacos, chips, guacamole, dips.

Right Now:

Enjoying some coffee and granola before heading out.

This Week:

Monday is Valentine’s Day but we have nothing planned. It will probably be more of the same, take-out and some Netflix. Perfectly fine by me.

Reading:

Just starting The School for Good Mothers. REALLY hoping it sparks something in me because reading has been so hard lately.

Watching:

We have been sucked into Korean programming of late. The show we are watching now is All of Us Are Dead. A Korean zombie show on Netflix. If you doubt Koreans and their ability to pull off a zombie movie check out Train to Busan. One of my all time faves.

Grateful for:

  • That my son can spend some time at home while he figures out his next move.
  • That I am finally feeling better and can enjoy the weekend.

Have a wonderful Sunday and great week!

  1. So happy to read you are feeling better FINALLY. I hope your reading pick works well for you as well. I’m happy to read your son is on his way; sounds like the right move to me. Otter pup will be pleased as well I bet. Take care.

  2. I’ll bet your son is excited to be back in CA. The Midwest isn’t for everyone, that’s for sure. Glad you’re feeling better. How are you liking Migrations?

Tacos, guacamole and chips sound so good right now! Yum.

  3. I’ll be starting The School for Good Mothers soon, too. My library hold for the eBook showed up this week so it’s waiting for me on my Kindle. I’m glad your son will be home soon.

  4. I’m glad to hear you are finally felling better… it sure has been a while. We may have the game on, but mostly just for background noise. I haven’t followed football closely this year, but I would like to see the Bengals pull out a W. Not a lot of reading here this week either. Hope we can both pick up that pace soon!

  5. Enjoy having your son home. It’s too bad he didn’t have a better experience, but this gives you some time to have him around. I’m also glad you’re feeling better. Maybe you will feel like reading again soon. Have a great week!

    1. Thank you. It was a better weekend. I feel a little more optimistic now that my son is home. He was struggling so much with temporary housing and the cat!

  6. Such good news in this post: you are starting to feel better and your son is coming home! I hope you enjoyed watching the game and that he made it before it was over.

    1. He arrived by 10am while I was at church so he had plenty of time to get the cat situated before the game. Dog and cat coexisting. Amazing.

  7. Ti, glad to hear that you are feeling better. I have been thinking about you. Hope your son can get some relaxation as he decides what comes next for him. Take care!

  8. I think this is the first year our office didn’t do a football pool, which was sad to me, not that I win or bet anything of real value, but it always made it fun.

I’m glad your son will be home and with the cat! Wow I hope the pup adjusts well.

My husband has been watching that Korean zombie show and really likes it. I like some episodes more than others.

    1. The Otter Pup and Root Beer were doing pretty well until Root Beer decided to play with her OWN toys. Apparently, the pup doesn’t want her to have fun here so she ran up and growled at her and now Root Beer is hissing at her, which Root Beer never does.

  9. Glad you’re feeling a bit better. That’s good news. What did you think of the Game & half time show? The Rams came thru … barely. Valentine’s Day was pretty quiet and anti-climatic here. We’re still not going out much to restaurants etc. Have a good week.

    1. I enjoyed the halftime show. It was very well produced and polished. I noticed the dancers wearing modesty garments under their costumes so they definitely made an effort to keep it a family affair. It was old school and I liked it. It was very low key here. I was at church until about 1pm and when I came home the food was almost done in the Crock and my son and cat were getting acclimated. It was a nice relaxing day although we missed our daughter terribly.
