Hello and Good Morning to you! I hope this finds you well with a cup of your favorite beverage, in hand. For me, that’s creamer with a little bit of coffee. I am very heavy handed when it comes to my creamer use.
Today is the last meeting for my 12th grade youth group. It’s been very difficult to connect during COVID but right before that, we dealt with the shooting at one of our local high schools so it feels like a very long, tedious journey to get to where we are today. I really wish we could have connected more given this is our last year as a group but I am happy for the opportunities we have had. There have been some wins. On that note, I will not be headed to summer camp this year because it falls during my son’s graduation. They couldn’t go last year so hopefully they will enjoy this last hurrah.
Right Now:
Since today is the last meeting for the group, we have a little lunch thing planned for after church. I am getting things together for that right now. We will sit outside and enjoy some time together.
This Week:
Lots happening this week. My daughter will hopefully get to perform in Sweeney Todd on Wednesday evening. Performing outside has its challenges. Wind, mic issues, lighting issues, etc. It’s all they are allowed to do so whatever they do will be wonderful. She is Mrs. Lovett. I will try to share a photo of her in hair and makeup after the show.
The school could not do prom or grad night so Universal Studios offered local seniors a discounted rate for their Grad Bash. That is this week and she is going with a good friend.
I’ve scheduled my review for The Invisible Husband of Frick Island for Monday but I will tell you now, you will want to read this book. It’s everything I want in a book right now.
Reading:
Next? Perhaps this one, People We Meet On Vacation by Emily Henry.
Watching:
Not much of anything. Too distracted. Stanley Tucci has a new book coming out and I have all his cooking shows recorded so maybe I will dive into those. I need comfort TV right now.
Grateful for:
- This beautiful weather. It’s been cool in the mornings and evenings and sunny and warm during the day.
- I feel like the extra activity I’ve been adding to my day is paying off. Slowly, I am coming out of the weird mood I’ve been in.
Here’s a question for you. Have you been to a movie theatre yet? I know there isn’t much playing but the other day I had such a desire for movie theatre popcorn and we have a lovely Indie theatre that just opened in our city. If there was something really good to see I think we’d go. You? Too soon?
I can’t remember the last movie I went too. I didn’t even go before the virus. My hubby and son did the last star wars movie. Looks like you will have a busy week . Enjoy the play I love that she is doing it outside.
I was not a big moviegoer before COVID because people tend to irritate me with their cell phone usage and loud talking. If I go it’s for a big blockbuster type film and I want to be fully immersed. With home entertainment systems these days it’s much more pleasant at home.
Funny I could never stand creamer or 1/2 and 1/2. I use to drink coffee with just milk and sweet and low, then just milk and now just black – I find it so much easier wherever you go and really get the appreciation for good beans that way.
We talk about going to the movies but there hasn’t been anything worth taking the plunge for. Our Indie theatre was all virtual or private groups but has recently reopened. It’s not close 45 min away maybe but a lovely college town.
It seems too early here for a movie theater … but perhaps it’s okay where you are. I’d love to see something on the Big Screen again. Those were the days! Have a lovely week …. I made my summer book list !
I use SF Coffee-Mate Vanilla Caramel in my decaf coffee, so yummy!
I haven’t been to a movie theater yet, but I’ve been thinking about it.
I don’t like a lot of sugar but I can’t do the sugar free Coffee Mate. I always detect a little bit of an aftertaste. My favorite is Coffee Mate Italian Cream.
I think a movie theater is not in my immediate future. No windows makes me really nervous and in the dark people might take off masks….
I have People You Meet on Vacation on my shelves and am looking forward to it. I liked her novel, Beach Read.
Hehe. People kept me away from the theater even before COVID! Yes, some will remove masks for sure but on 6/15 everything will be pretty open anyway unless a business asks for them. I can wait. There’s not much to see anyway. I’ve been waiting and waiting for the new James Bond movie, which has been postponed at least twice, possibly three times.
Too soon for the movie theater for me. There might be a film or two coming out this summer that I might have seen in years past, but not this year. I figure it’ll probably be safe by the time Dune comes out in October. One of the chain theaters here was selling bags of popcorn for a while. Something to look into for cravings?
Dune? I had not heard about that release. That will need to be seen on the big screen for sure. I have walked into theaters JUST to buy popcorn. Not lately but before COVID, sometimes if I passed a theater and got a whiff of freshly popped corn I’d ask to go in to buy some and they’d always let me.
I’m worried that the theater in my little town won’t survive covid. It has always been so wonderful to have this little theater just down the street from us.
I went straight to my library website and requested Invisible Husband. If it’s just what you need right now, then I probably need it right now, too.
I loved the back-and-forth in People We Meet on Vacation…though I was a little disappointed by the ending. But that’s probably just me.
Glad you are feeling a little better, Ti.
I hope your little theater survives.
I hope you get your copy of The Invisible Husband of Frick Island soon. It is what you need right now.
People We Meet on Vacation has started off a little rough for me but it’s picking up.
I can’t wait to see what you think of The People You Meet on Vacation — you convinced me with your review of Frick Island.
As for Coffee, it’s more coffee than creamer.
I’ve been busy with the upcoming pool opening and event planning. With no restrictions coming this Memorial Day, there are last minute plans going on. We had limited plans because of restrictions, but now it may be too late to book things.
No restrictions this weekend? California officially opens June 15th. Most have given up on restrictions anyway. Hope you can do something fun.
