Sunday Matters: A Little Rest

Sunday Matters

This will be brief because with the long weekend and all, I am going to take a break and do nothing. Plus, I tacked on a few extra days to celebrate my birthday! It’s a milestone birthday for me and I am all over the place with how I feel about it. It’s not until Wednesday but it’s looming.

Right Now:

I plan to eat a huge breakfast, drink tons of coffee and read.

This Week:

Back to school night is this week. It’s high school and many parents don’t go  but The Girl’s choir performs and I like to meet the teachers to get a sense for what will be expected throughout the year. Personality tells you a lot.

There is also one volleyball game and book club and I still haven’t read the book.

Reading:

I guess I will be reading my book club book. Exit West.

Watching:

When I have time to watch TV I usually tune in to home improvement shows like Fixer Upper. I also like shows about purchasing beach front properties. Cooking shows are a comfort to me but are there any good ones anymore?

Making:

Don’t plan to make a thing. However, somewhere in the plan there needs to be a really good burger.

Grateful for:

Long weekends and extra days off.

What do you have planned for today or tomorrow, if you are lucky enough to have it off?

  1. I always went to Meet the Teacher nights too. I had one teacher tell me the parents who REALLY need to be there never come and the ones who would be fine skipping it are always there. Enjoy your long weekend!

    1. Yep. I am told the same thing. But sometimes my daughter paints a picture of a teaching that I just have to see for myself, and sometimes she is right.

  2. Enjoy your long weekend and I hope you have a wonderful birthday week, too. I celebrated a milestone birthday this summer… it wasn’t as bad as I though. Yours probably won’t be either 😉

Glad you’re going to read Exit West. I’ve been considering it and will welcome your thoughts.

    1. I don’t know why I was having such an issue with this bday. Well, I do know. My daughter’s head injury made living like walking on a tight rope. The entire household was tense. Every noise was met with screaming. Everything was too loud for her.

  3. Enjoy your milestone birthday…they are always tough. We have been watching that Beachfront show, too…on HGTV…and there is a fun one on Netflix, too. Enjoy your long holiday…I am reading and loving Where The Crawdads Sing!

    1. I befriended a gal on Instagram and found out she has a show on the Food Channel (Digital) so I hope to catch some of her episodes because her new season starts. Mom Wins… the foodie blogger is Bev Weidner. I am probably spelling her last name wrong.

  4. Happy early Birthday; I hope the milestone doesn’t throw you for a loop! I also like the fixer upper shows and the beach front property ones 🙂 This coming week is a very full one for me at work and after work work-related commitments. Sigh.

  5. Happy Birthday! Mine is coming up too, and I am trying not to think too much about it. I did take a couple days off of work though for myself. I figured that was the least I could do for myself. 🙂 I am glad to hear you took some time off work too!

I hope Back to School night goes well. I would probably go too even when my daughter reaches high school.

I hope you like Exit West. I have a copy of that one waiting its turn to be read.

I am going to miss watching Fixer Upper . . .

I hope you have a great rest of the weekend and week, Ti! Happy Birthday!

  6. For years I watched all the House Hunter shows, fixer up shows and the cooking shows. We don’t have DirecTV any more though, Now we’ve got Apple TV/YouTube TV. I’m binging on The Andy Griffith Show and watching Big Brother.

I hope you have a great birthday!

  7. 🎂Happy Birthday🎂. So nice you have the time off to celebrate!!
We are hoping to enjoy one last pool day tomorrow before it closes for the season.
Just finished The Ladies of Garrison Gardens for my library book club. The author Louise Schaffer is coming to the meeting! Very exciting.
I am reading Faye Kellerman’s new book Walking Shadows. It’s part of the Decker/Lazarus series. I hate for a series to end but this one needs to, the stories are all the same and are tired. I just can’t walk away when I have read everyone – I am looking forward to reading The Masterpiece by Fiona Davis which is all about Grand Central Station.

    1. I did manage to enjoy myself on the extra days off I took. I really need to take more time off.

You have been reading a lot! I have been reaching for quick, entertaining reads but with a little bit of depth. I can’t read pure fluff. This year I just want to be distracted from the day to day world we live in.
