2018 – So Glad To See You

Happy New Year - 2018

I am so happy to see 2018. Here’s to a happy year full of wonder and promise.

My first book of the year will be:

Nutshell

My One Word for the new year is still bouncing around in my head. If I actually settle on one, I will share it at a later date.

We are just cooking food and staying at home. Maybe we’ll take a drive somewhere. You?

  1. Can’t wait to read your review on this. I read it last year and I still laugh when I recall our book club discussions. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

I started the year off with Artemis and then going to read The Master & Margarita – can’t wait to start that one 🙂

  2. Have a Happy New Year…Den zipped out for sushi…we are just staying home…reading and tv watching…it’s freaky cold here!

  3. Happy New Year! Here’s to a wonderful 2018 for all of us. I’ve not ever read a book by Ian McEwan. I need to try one – might even have an audio of Atonement – possibly.

  4. Today is the first day Kim has had off in 13 days so just a day in…TV and booze…oh…and food, yeah. Probably “nibblies,” and something cooked later, but nothing major.

I haven’t had time to think about my One Word, and I don’t know if I’m going to do it this year.

    1. I hope your wife can rest and relax today. I made these dumplings I make every new year and I am just nibbling on those. The Hub took the outside decorations down and is about to go for a run. I am waiting for the girl to get home so we can take down the inside decorations. I’d dit once without her and she was sad so I will wait.

  5. Happy New Year! It is so cold here , our hot water pipes are frozen. Yikes! Am hoping to start the year with The Rules of Magic by Alice Hoffman. Read The Nutshell, it was good, will be interested to know your thoughts!

  6. My daughter and I actually braved driving down to Topanga mall. Turns out there was no traffic and we found the things she needed that we hadn’t found in Santa Barbara so all in all, a good trip. Oh, there were major sales on so it made it even better!

  7. I hope you enjoy your first book of the year! My daughter dragged us to the store this afternoon to spend one of her Christmas gift cards and so we dragged her with us to lunch out. It was surprisingly not busy. We’re in for the rest of the day. I wish I didn’t have to work tomorrow.

I hope you have a Happy New Year.

    1. I tried to avoid all shopping right after Christmas but my daughter also dragged me to the mall, Sephora specifically to spend her gift card. It was so packed. I could not wait to get out of there. Of course my husband and son occupied themselves by eating Wetzel’s Pretzel’s right before dinner but that’s a story for another day.

  8. Early bedtime tonight after ringing in the New Year a little too long last night! I’ve gotten behind on reading Ian McEwan’s books; need to catch up with him. Happy 2018!

  9. I’m with you – so ready to start a new year! Am I remembering correctly that you are a McEwan fan? I have mixed feelings about his writing. One day I’ll suck it up and give him another chance.

    1. I think you would like Nutshell though. It’s a little different. Funny. If you think of a fetus with a huge vocabulary and an affinity for fine wine is funny.

    1. The words bouncing around in my head, typed with no filters and just dumped here for your consideration:

enough, stop, do, act, choose, gather.

      Of course, these change hourly.
