Sunday Matters: Time

Sunday Matters

This week has been great. No rushing around! For once, my calendar was wide open and it felt so good. Reading, cuddles with the pup, watching Broadway performances that my daughter wanted me to see on YouTube. Pleasant.

Winter Formal was yesterday so maybe I will have a pic to share later. I don’t know about you moms with teens but my teen is very choosy about which photos she allows me to share.

Right Now:

I am getting ready to head out for high school ministry. I have it in my head to cook breakfast today but we’ll see if it happens. Usually I just grab a piece of toast with peanut butter but don’t you love a good breakfast?

This Week:

My daughter starts a college class this Monday (Sign Language) so that she can hopefully attend a summer theater intensive in NY/NJ this summer. Since she chose not to do The Little Mermaid, she has evenings to attend this class which counts for two years of language. My son took the class when he was in high school and said it was pretty decent.

High School ministry has a Galentine’s event that I will try to attend this Thursday. On Valentine’s Day, my daughter’s choir will be doing singing telegrams but The Hub and I will most likely order in because going out on THE day, a Friday no less, will be impossible.

On Saturday, we hope to meet the boy in Santa Barbara for a meal and to catch-up a little. Santa Barbara is about 1.5 hours for each of us so it’s the middle ground and a great place to meet. We are looking forward to it.

Reading:

I finished Something in the Water by Catherine Steadman. I should have the review up this week. I enjoyed it a lot but I could not shake the feeling that I’ve read the story before. Every time I turned the page I got a sense of deja vu.

I am combing through all my review copies and library books to see what my next read will be. I want to keep up this reading pace so it needs to be something super compelling.  Suggestions?

Watching:

I noticed that Center Stage is back on Netflix. Have you seen that gem? My daughter and I are going to watch it again soon but tonight we will sit on the couch and watch all the Oscar fanfare.

New Things I’ve Tried:

I’ve been supplementing my food with organic, plant-based protein powders mixed into almond milk. Nutritionally, I am a little deficient. I can tell from the low energy so hopefully a little nutritional boost will do me good.

Grateful for:

  • The YouVersion Bible app. I am in this app daily.
  • Smart TV’s and the ability to cast content from my phone to them.
  • The opportunity to share books with others. I am not a big purchaser of books but lately, I’ve been picking up used copies so I can share them with others.

That’s all I’ve got. How have you all been doing? The political news I’ve been forced to endure (I am on social media for work) has been too much. I wish I could completely remove it from my life. From the comments I’ve seen from some of you I think you feel the same way.

Sunday Matters: The Sun Will Come Out

Sunday Matters

The title of this post has nothing to do with the weather but everything to do with Annie, the musical. By this evening, the first week of shows will be behind us and then we are on to week two. It took a bit of juggling to get through this past week. Plus, Godspell auditions were happening at the same time. My daughter pulled it off though and was amazing as Grace Farrell.

Right Now:

Letting my daughter sleep in while I prep for high school ministry which meets later this morning.

I am not going to bother with meal prepping until production week is over, but I really need to spend some time planning for it. Did I tell you that Macbeth was cancelled? The shooting caused it to be rescheduled and now, due to a cast member moving out of state the show was nixed. I am kind of happy about it. Three weeks of shows is just too much along with school.

This Week:

This week should be easier. First off, no school or work or shows on Monday. REST. Only one mandatory rehearsal for Thursday. I have a haircut appointment for Tuesday and a high school ministry housewarming party to celebrate our new building on Wednesday. Then, shows. I am working backstage for a few of them.

Reading:

By the time you read this, I will probably be done with Big Little Lies. I am seriously late to the party with this one! I don’t know why I put it off but with the TV show and all, I just figured it was too fluffy for me but I was wrong. It’s not intellectually deep for sure but it’s juicy and good! Just the type of book I am loving right now.

Watching:

I would love to start watching Big Little Lies but I don’t have HBO.  It’s not like I have much time to watch anything these days but someday.

New Things I’ve Tried:

This week we have all been on auto-pilot so I haven’t had the chance to try anything new.

Grateful for:

No work or school on Monday due to the MLK holiday. Rest is desperately needed.

Are you starting to think about the Oscars and the Super Bowl? They are coming up and I must say, the nom list for the Oscars is pretty interesting. Lots of competition. I’ve missed the Oscars for the past few years due to high school ministry but since we meet in the morning now I am really excited to be able to watch it again.
