To all the moms out there, Happy Mother’s Day! I hope you are ridiculously spoiled today.
Right Now:
Coffee. Church. Driving. The Ocean. Food. Books. More ocean. Possibly more food. That is the plan for today but my daughter’s bus was in an accident last night on her way back from a choir festival at Disneyland. They are all fine but other cars were involved and she didn’t get home until very late so the plans might change. Thank God they weren’t hurt!
This Week:
Pretty much the same old stuff going on. My daughter is rehearsing for two shows which is a bit of an adjustment. My son is wrapping up the semester and managed to snag an internship with the city working in the Arts & Events division so he’s pretty happy about that.
Me? Nothing much to report. The weather is all over the place but it’s got me thinking about Christmas which means I’ve clearly lost my mind.
Oh, and the gophers are still a problem. Now that the grass is growing, we have lots of rabbits that are helping the gophers destroy it. We always had rabbits but when the grass died they went elsewhere. Now they are back. The Otter Pup watches them eat the grass all day long and is so bent out of shape by the time we get home.
Reading:
On Instagram I see gorgeously styled photos including books and food or books and a cocktail and I think, “Wow. I want to read that book” even though I have dozens of my own to read. Some are highly anticipated and yet, the book that someone else is reading always sounds better. FOMO (fear of missing out) is a real thing and I experience it daily when it comes to books.
So, what am I reading? The Thirst by Jo Nesbø and Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi.
Watching:
We did manage to see Guardians of the Galaxy 2 and I thought it was equal to if not better than the first movie. This one had more heart, in my opinion.
Making:
I made breakfast for dinner one night but we were out literally every other night so I must admit that there were a few cereal nights and that was in addition to the waffle and bacon night so breakfast foods won out this past week. Today, I just plan to eat. No cooking and hopefully not grocery shopping.
Grateful for:
I’m a little sad today because I can’t help but think of my own mom which of course reminds me of everything else but I am glad to be hitting the road and not thinking about any of it, at least for a little while. Also very glad that my daughter and her friends were not hurt in that accident.
And for those of you not celebrating today, stay inside and watch a movie because the crowds are out in full force.
