The Sunday Salon: Happy Mother’s Day

Sunday Salon

We went to Ojai today! We had a delicious lunch and I got to browse my favorite OUTDOOR bookstore. It’s mostly outdoors with a few inside rooms. It was an old house before it was a bookstore, so imagine little nooks and reading spots everywhere. It’s awesome.

Everything started with The Girl giving me a beautiful Mother’s Day bookmark. The Boy gave me flowers! It is a blistering 100 degrees today! I look withered in the one pic. Nothing I could do about it! It was just too darn hot.

The Boy was there too but he wandered off somewhere. I walked out with a copy of Sputnik Sweetheart  by Murakami. Are you surprised? Oh, and this is the one day where I can browse a bookstore and The Hub will actually join me.

It was a great day but the heat was unbearable so we cut it short and headed home. Now we are just lounging around.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there! Hope you had a lovely day!

  1. Love Love Love that bookstore. We have nothing like that here in NJ. Happy Mother’s Day. I saw The Great Gatsby with my high schooler. The 13 year old had no interest. Lovely day though.

  2. Sounds like a good day. I spent the whole weekend at home doing nothing in particular, though I did get some reading done and gardening while the hub cleaned the house for the impending grandparents arrival and took care of the little one…mostly.

  3. Nice, Ojai is a great town! Yeah I’ve been to that bookstore too, where some of the books get rained on or faded from the sun. It’s pretty unique; a neat place to visit.

  4. Looks like it was a great day. Great photos. I love this bookstore. Reminds me of one in Key West. Thanks for sharing.

  5. Oh I need to visit there someday! But what if it rains? Are the books protected? And to accept payment on the honor system. Awesome! Glad you used your Mom’s Day muscle to get what you wanted!

    1. The books on the inside of the structure are somewhat protected even though it’s out in the open, but the shelves lining the outer walls could get wet…. if it ever rained in So Cal 🙂 I think it has rained once since January. And by rain, I mean… drops for more than 5 minutes.
