After three days of dental appointments and still a couple more to go, I am glad to be home and in the kitchen prepping for the big meal. Finally. The Girl is off from school so we’re making the meal together. The Boy will join us later and The Hub is at work.
So far I’ve made:
Two Apple Pie-lets (small pies for The Boy who does not like Pumpkin pie)
The cornbread for the Caramelized Onion and Sage Dressing
The Marshmallow salad (The Girl’s specialty, think Ambrosia)
Sweet Potato Soufflé
I still have to make:
2 Pumpkin Pies
The Gluten-Free rolls (rising as I type this)
Green Beans with Bacon, Feta and Tomatoes
Brussels Sprouts with a Balsamic Reduction
Mashed Potatoes
Creamed Spinach
The Turkey Roasted with oranges and deliciously moist!
I know I am forgetting stuff but thinking about it all is making me very hungry.
You see that painting above? The Girl painted it for me. There is a bit more to it but I had to crop it out because it included her name. It’s gorgeous! I plan to have it framed but right now, it’s hanging in the dining room so we can gaze at it while we eat.
In other news, remember how The Boy auditioned for another play? He went for the lead in Singin’ in the Rain but didn’t get it. Instead, he got “Sound Engineer” and both of us were scratching our heads over that one. How can you try out for the lead and end up on stage crew? But, he was okay with it. THEN he found out it’s an actual part. He is not working stage crew after all.
By the way, I will not be out fighting the crowds on Thanksgiving OR the day after. I really want to keep it simple this year and focus on family. I know a lot of you are doing the same. It’s just too much and we already have too much stuff anyway.
Well, there’s more to say but I’ve got to get back to the kitchen. For those celebrating Thanksgiving, have a good one! I am so thankful to be a part of this community. Cheers!
