Sunday Matters: Almost Time for the Read Along

Sunday Matters

Hello, friends! Good morning! We have hot weather again this weekend but no complaints. Some of you are really going through it with Helene. Stay safe out there!

Right Now:

Getting myself together so I can hang out with JHIGH students at church.

This Week:

I don’t have much going on socially but this Tuesday is October 1st and that means the Of Human Bondage read along begins!! We have a small group of us but let’s go!

There’s still time to get a copy.

Reading:

I finished All the Colors of the Dark by Chris Whitaker. You can read my review here.

I also finished James and reviewed it recently.

Currently I’m reading three books and want to finish at least two before the read along.

Can’t wait to start this one!

Of Human Bondage

Watching:

I was sitting on the couch reading, while my husband had a show on and I couldn’t help but get into it. Tulsa King. Anyone else watching? A mob boss, played by Sly Stallone, is sent to Oklahoma (of all places) to start a new mob cell. It’s kind of funny and very good. Highly recommend. Also, it has Dana Delaney. Love her!

Grateful for:

The Otter Pup is hanging in there. She finished her round of antibiotics for her sinus infection. Still eating. Still enjoying sun beams. We do what we can to keep her happy. So grateful that she is sleeping much better now. The poor thing was really struggling to breath. It’s so hard to watch a beloved pet age.

Hey, have a wonderful week!

Sunday Matters: It’s On

Sunday Matters

Good morning! How the heck is everyone? Our heat wave ended, at least for now. Sometimes October throws something at us. I much prefer 80 degree temps over 110, and I saw leaves blowing through the street. A hint of fall.

I love Sundays. My post church nap is always excellent and it allows me to stay up late to read. I never used to be a “read in bed” person but lately it’s been a real treat as the pup sleeps next to me. She isn’t doing great but she still has good moments so we make her comfortable.

Right Now:

Coffee, breakfast, student ministry. I busted out my fall coffee creamers. I am still doing iced coffee because hot coffee still tastes weird to me post brain surgery but the creamer flavors hint at fall. It works.

This Week:

Besides work, I have a volunteer “team night” this Friday. It’s going to be a Bob Ross paint night. I am kind of jazzed for this. The other day I gave a dresser away and in the dresser, I found all my paint supplies. I had forgotten where I put them and have been wanting to mess around with paint. Paint Night will be a good kick-off for that.

Reading:

Still reading  All the Colors of the Dark by Chris Whitaker.

I need to dive into James by Percival Everett because I just remembered that book club is coming up and I am only two chapters in. I am finding it hard to get into.

Anyone for a Read-Along?

After brain surgery and trips to the hospital you start to really think about ALL the books you want to read, yet haven’t. One of those books is, Of Human Bondage by Somerset Maugham. It’s a chunkster at 688 pp.

The  Of Human Bondage read-along has been announced! Join us!

Watching:

Not much at all. Trying to steer clear of the ridiculous news coverage. I really hate election years.

Grateful for:

New opportunities. I am dabbling in something new. Will share soon.

Have a wonderful weekend!
