Whatnot – 11/02/22

HomeAnother Halloween in the books and this year. the kids were OUT! Didn’t matter that it was a school night. We had at least 300 trick or treaters. This is very close to our pre-pandemic numbers. It was so sweet to see families out and about again. Everyone was in good spirits. I made vegan chili and we tested out our new Solo Stove and had a little bonfire time. My friend came over and The Pup got to hang with us too.

If you look carefully at the pic above, you can see a tiny bit of fall color but that’s pretty much it. We have a few trees in my neighborhood that put on a show but only for a day or two. I’ve been enjoying the pics of Missouri as my daughter walks across campus.

A few weeks ago when I went to the doc for my knees, my blood pressure was extremely high. I mean, I was in a lot of pain and even the doc said it was to be expected but now I have to go for follow-ups because my family history is a perfect storm for a stroke and my doc is concerned. In my mind this is just one more thing but probably important. I just don’t do well with appointments these days. Truth be told, I’ve not been feeling great.

Weekend plans. None. We have the time change this weekend. Hope it’s the last. We voted to end it years ago and yet here we are again. I do not mind fall back but absolutely cannot deal with spring forward. It really messes me up!

My reading has been good and I want it to stay that way. I am very behind with my reading goal for the year. Dinosaurs by Lydia Millet is very good so far. I still need to write up a review this week for The IT Girl but then I will be caught up on reviews.

That’s all I have. Let me know how you are doing!

  1. I’m sorry you’re dealing with more health issues, Ti. My blood pressure tends to run high when I’m in a doctor’s office, so they have me record it from home for a week or so before my visits.

I’m with you on Daylight Savings Time. I wish we could do away with it!

I have Dinosaurs read to go on audio later this winter. Right now, I’m all about the nonfiction.

Take care and hope you feel better soon.

  2. Sorry you’re dealing with health problems again. Hopefully it was just due to pain or if you’re like me from being at the dr.

I might add Dinosaurs to my ’23 list.

  3. I learned today that Mexico isn’t going to change their clocks after this time. I so wish we would do the same! As someone who works with international colleagues, it really messes us up for meeting times.

I hope you start to feel better.

  4. I wish that the federal government would just end the time change for everyone at one time and then none of us would need to deal with it.

Reading has slowed for me, but I’ve been working on poetry and manuscripts.

  5. 300 Trick-or-Treaters. WOW. We had 10 kids total.
and YAY for Lydia Millet, she is such an interesting writer.
    Hope you are feeling better.

  6. We just moved to a subdivision and ALL our 50 Bucks in candy was gone in 25 minutes. LOL. just wow. I am so sorry about your knees, pain and BP issues. I am a member of that club. No fun. When im doing well and lose some weight my BP goes low so i come off the meds, then,,,,,,the snack monster grabs me and i gain and back on the BP meds. the knees and the pain- eh. no changing that for me i dont think. I truly hope it works out for you, we take our knees for granted, The seasonal weather change is also an issue with knees. no fun,

    1. Thanks for the kind words. I have good days and bad days with these knees. It’s really bringing me down! I feel ok walking so then I do too much and pay for it later.
