Hello, friends. I missed posting all this week because the return to office for those two days wiped me out! It’s just two days. Very doable but for whatever reason I was camped out on the couch each evening unable to move. It was nice to see my colleagues and the campus looks great. Not a lot of students yet as the fall semester hasn’t started yet. Overall, it was a successful return. I am spending some time personalizing my space again. I need some art work and more plants.
The kids are doing well. My daughter STILL hasn’t moved into her apartment as she has been staying with a friend and taking a road trip. School hasn’t started yet but I’d like for her to settle in so she is ready for the semester start.
My son is thriving in Everett, WA. It’s close enough to Seattle but also has its own downtown scene. He’s been enjoying the concerts in the park, or actually, on the waterfront I think. Root Beer has furniture to lounge on now and some cool fans to keep her comfortable.
Here she is enjoying furniture:
Here’s The Otter Pup when she realized I was going to the office:
Right Now:
Enjoying some coffee. Lots of it, because today will be very busy for student ministry. We start groups again today and we have lots of wonderful new leaders. I have to sub for a few groups and shadow some others. It will be a very exciting, fast-paced day.
Reading:
Still reading The Last Chairlift. I am also reading Verity. I honestly knew nothing about Verity when I picked it up except that everyone seems to have an opinion about it and that it’s pretty popular. I’m not sure what I thought it would be, but it’s compelling and hard to put down although not something I typically read. When I review it I will have to include a note on content as I have some young readers and this is definitely not for them.
Watching:
Still watching Sisyphus. It’s very good but 16 episodes in the first season is a lot and because it has subtitles I have to pay attention while watching or I am left in the cold. I can’t do other things while watching so our viewing pace has slowed a little. We are only on episode 7.
Grateful for:
- Plants. I brought one plant back to the office so far and what a difference it makes. I had a lot before the shutdown but rescuing them during the shutdown when I realized they would not survive, was like something out of Mission Impossible.
- My Coffee Mate Italian Sweet Cream creamer has been sold out everywhere. I’ve looked for it for months and tried others but the other day I went into a market I never go to and hit the mother load. I am stocked up for awhile now.
Have a great Sunday! After 2pm you can find me crashed out taking a nap.
I bet it’s hard to return to the office even for 2 days because of the whole, getting ready and commute as well….whole different routine. That Otter Pup must miss you and the gang by day. Glad E loves WA, that must make you feel so much better about his move as well, and, yeah, for RootBeer adjusting so well too.
I never read Colleen Hoover but did purchase one of her books last year – It Ends with Us – haven’t read it yet but, I heard it was good. Have a great week!
Going back to the office is such a big change and I can see how it would be tiring! I have heard good things about Everett, WA and it’s great to hear your son is enjoying it.
My book group read Verity, but I didn’t read it because before I could begin it, 2 members said how much they hated it so I didn’t bother. No one in the group finished it so I look forward to seeing what you think of it.
Chloe looks like she’s thinking “really mom? How dare you go back to work!” My Kaiyo used to look at me like that too but now she’s used to it. I leave cartoons on for her and she has her toys which she appreciates 🙂
Glad your son is doing good and your daughter is having fun before the term begins!
I use Coffee Mate SF Vanilla Caramel powder. I LOVE it so much I keep some in my locker at work. There was a month or so I couldn’t find it anywhere so now I order 4-5 at a time.
Root Beer and your son seem to be settling in nicely! That’s wonderful to hear. I’m surprised Emma hasn’t moved in yet and instead took a trip, but when you’re young it’s easier to be spontaneous, right? I hope all is well with you. I really love the Coffee Mate Coconut creme one, but haven’t been able to find that one at all. Seems like all we have is the one you are looking for!
Try not to let the commute drain you too much.
I’m sure returning to work, even if just for a couple of days, is emotionally draining. I’ll bet it was nice to see some of your co-workers, though.
I had a feeling your son would love living in the PNW. It’s such a great area with so much going on. If I had to move out of Oregon, Washington is where I’d want to go.
