Sunday Matters: Another Show Down & Mother’s Day

Sunday Matters

I feel like one of my kids is always in a show. But today, Footloose is over and The Girl is exhausted. It was an excellent run.  It also happens to be Mother’s Day! Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there.

Right Now:

We have tickets to see Falsettos this afternoon. I’m very excited to see it. Afterward, we are hitting this famous taco stand because sitting in an actual restaurant is nearly impossible on Mother’s Day but tacos in the car happen to be very enjoyable.

This Week:

The Girl has her Spring Concert this week. I am working one of the performances but taking a break for the other.

Still trying to figure out my health issues. Some tests show some strangeness and I am still waiting for one other to come back. I’m getting frustrated.

This week I also have a book discussion and a life group meeting and I also signed up to bring a friend who just had surgery a meal. I need to stay organized but it will all get done.

Reading:

I finished The Wife Between Us. Very enjoyable and just what I am in the mood for these days.

I am now reading White Tears.
Also reading Letters to the Church which is fascinating.

Watching:

I am back to watching Hoarders but I don’t think there are any new ones because it seems like I’ve seen them all. I need some good shows to watch.

New Things I’ve Tried:

Let me tell you, Walmart has upped their grocery game. I’ve been using online ordering / pick-up for awhile now and it’s wonderful but their selection of food has really improved. I get organic and gluten free stuff at such a good price. I picked up these trail snacks for less than $3 and they are comparable to what I see elsewhere for twice the cost if not more. So many flavors. Cute individual servings.

Grateful for:

Lately, being able to turn a bad day into a teaching moment. I’ve not always been able to do that.

What new thing are you loving right now?

Review: The Wife Between Us

The Wife Between Us

The Wife Between Us

The Short of It:

The perfect read is the kind of read that has you putting off daily chores and taking extra coffee breaks to sneak in a page or two. The Wife Between Us is that kind of read.

The Rest of It:

In the beginning, the story seems pretty simple. One marriage ends and the husband from that marriage is about to marry again. The ex-wife has trouble accepting this and is jealous and very bothered by his new relationship. Is she still carrying a torch for the guy?

At first glance, it appears that way. If you read The Anonymous Girl, also by these same authors, you’d know that nothing is really what it seems.

I really can’t say much without giving things away but I like this type of book. I like books that keep you guessing. Many times I found myself putting the book down to ask myself, “What the heck?” At times, I re-read pages. Other times, I read quickly to get to the plot twist. I was eager to know how it would end and that is the perfect book for this time of the year when school is coming to a close but summer has not yet begun. Yes, definitely a good distraction read.

Have you read it? A lot of people ask me if I liked the ending. Let’s just say that I didn’t see it coming. Good, right?
