Sunday Matters: The Week Got Away From Me

Sunday Matters

It is truly amazing how quickly a week goes by. Even with all my grumbling, the minutes fly by and before I know it, it’s time to begin the week again. In the lunch room the other day we laughed and laughed because Christmas is just around the corner.

Yep.

Right Now:

Not much going on this morning. There are little things here and there that I need to take care of but they’ll get done. I just want to sit for awhile.

This Week:

I have all the normal stuff this week plus a couple of choir concerts to attend. Usually if your kid has a solo you go to the one in which she has a solo but guess what? The teacher gave her more than one and each on different nights so we get to see the show TWICE.  Crafty of her, huh?

Reading:

I am ready to select my next book but I am having a little trouble deciding what it should be.

There are my “need to reads” and my “want to reads” and although some are on both lists, I still can’t decide. I am in a mood.

Maybe this one, White Elephant by Julie Langsdorf. Suburbia is an obsession of mine.

Watching:

Dr. Pimple Popper continues to fascinate. It’s the backstory of each patient that pulls me in, not necessarily what she does to them.

I received Crazy Rich Asians from Netflix the other day and hope to watch it very soon.

New Things I’ve Tried:

I spend a lot of time at Trader Joe’s so many of my “new” things come from there but this is not a sponsored post by any means.

I always need quick and easy dinner ideas so lately I’ve been hanging out in the cold case where all the pre-cooked meal stuff is. We tried this the other night and just had it with brown rice tortillas. I heated it in a cast iron skillet to caramelize the veggies but you could even heat it in the microwave if you had to. It made for a tasty, healthy meal.

Grateful for:

That I was able to rest a little this weekend.

Random thought: I think I mentioned before how much I love scents (perfumes, candles, etc.) but only high quality ones. A bomb of Bath and Body Works anything doesn’t do it for me. What is your absolute fave scent for spring? Perfume, cologne, flower. What? I am on the lookout for a new perfume.

  1. I love Trader Joe’s. They are supposed to have Neapolitan Ice Cream in March! So exciting. I still love anything Jo Malone. I am discovering that the scents other than the lavender last longer! Who knew? I have not seen your potential next book anywhere but it looks interesting!

  2. We having 3-5” more of snow coming tonight so today we are hitting a spring bulb show! Ridiculous all the snow around here from the plow. My favorite scent for perfume is: Dolce and Gabbana Light Blue. I’ve been using it for about 10 years. I can’t stand flowery scented perfumes and this is just nice and light. The hub uses the men’s version as well.

I need to check out White Elephant- new to me! Have a great week.

  3. I am so not a scent person so I can’t help you there. How fun that your daughter has more than one solo; that’s awesome. I just joined Anne’s (My Head is Full of Books) My Own Books challenge where we try to read 10 of our own books in 2 months. I am hoping I can stick to it and move some books off my TBR shelf. Regarding Dr. Pimple Popper, I am always amazed at how long the people wait until they finally see a doctor!

    1. I’m sure they wait because they don’t have good medical insurance or any medical insurance. I mean, how can you wait when a lipoma is the size of a watermelon?

  4. White Elephant is new to me, but looks so good. Hope you do decide to read it next and let us know! Perfume… I’m liking Nirvana White by Elizabeth and James for a spring/summer scent these days.

    1. I tried the Black version but not the white. I love peony. I just tried Philosophy’s Ballet Rose over the weekend. It’s lovely but a barely there scent. I do like it to be a tad noticeable but it was so fresh and not stale like most rose scents are.

  5. Every week gets away from me these days.

My mother is fascinated with Dr. Pimple Popper as well and she tells me every time she removes a lipoma since I’ve had two large ones removed.

    1. Ack! You’ve had lipomas? There are some quite large ones on this show. It amazes me. My daughter has seen the show so much she can take one look at the patient now and predict the diagnosis.

    1. We only have the one Trader Joe’s but we preferred their old location with their own parking lot. Now, they share a lot with Best Buy. Hobby Lobby and Petco which is ridiculously busy and they didn’t gain an inch of space so it was a weird choice. Just walking back to the car with my cart is like playing a real life game of Frogger.

  6. sounds like one of your more laid back weeks?! I need a few of those, but someone little kid’s birthday is this Friday, so I have to finish up the planning and get it all together for Saturday at the indoor pool.

    1. How did the party go? We did a pool party once at one of those indoor places. Fun. The parents sat behind a window so we could watch but not have to get splashed and stuff. LOL.

  7. It’s been forever since I have checked in with you! My favorite scents these days have all been oils to help with my stress and anxiety, and lavendar or eucalyptus are my go-tos right now. Not really a perfume, but that’s what I’ve been wearing myself these days!!
