This week hasn’t been fabulous. In fact, much of it was the perfect storm of things going wrong. Sometimes that happens.
On a happy note, today is my daughter’s 15th birthday. We don’t even know what we are doing yet. It’s up to her and if needed I will miss volunteering tonight depending on what she decides.
Happy Birthday! We love you! She’s eager to get her permit to drive but you have to be 15 1/2 for that. Just a little while longer.
Right Now:
I am decompressing. Just kind of sitting here but we’ll decide what the heck we are doing and then do it.
This Week:
Many have asked but no, The Girl did not get the role of Witch in Oz. BUT, she got the part of Aunt Em. Everything for a reason, right?
No special appointments this week just the normal stuff. The place where we do Homeless Outreach closed its doors so we are moving to a facility that was offered as an alternative. It’s smaller and we have to keep everything in a mobile unit and bring it in and out each night so Mondays in November will be a little different. I pray that we can still serve these folks successfully in this new setup.
Reading:
Still reading Unsheltered by Barbara Kingsolver. It’s veered into a slightly different direction than I anticipated so I will wait until I turn that last page to form an opinion.
Oh! And of course, Murakami’s new one comes out on Tuesday. I did not pre-order it this time because I feared it would not come , like it did that one time. I shall walk in and buy it. I hope my local store has it.
Watching:
The Fear the Walking Dead finale was so yawn-inducing. I can barely muster the energy required to discuss it. So, I won’t.
Still watching American Horror Story although it comes on so late here I can’t watch it until the day after. Because of that I have to be careful of what I see on social media. Spoilers are all over the place.
I haven’t seen any good movies but I recorded Hocus Pocus which I have yet to see in its entirety.
New Things I’ve Tried:
This stuff is like crack. Gluten-free too. Another Trader Joe’s find. A small piece keeps the doctor away. No… seriously.
Grateful for:
Tele-doc appointments. My daughter has been begging to go to the dermatologist but she has NO time for the appointment so I sent some pics to her doctor and voila! Prescriptions ready for pick-up. Hoping they help. Working out every day for hours on end in a sweat box of a gym does not help the skin.
Has anyone in your neighborhood decorated for Halloween yet? We have three houses that put a few things up but it’s been so darn hot. No one wants to put Halloween stuff up when it’s so hot out.

Although it is too hot to think Halloween decorations there, it is rainy, rainy, rainy here. I am so sick of rain! It is getting colder, too, and I hate that it is getting light later in the morning and dark sooner in the afternoon.
The Trader Joe’s food looks good….I wish we had one close to us. Every time we go to one, I try to stock up on things.
Ditto on the happy birthday wishes to your daughter. Hope she has a good day. Hope this week goes better for you.
Thank you! This week is better. And I will be cleaning all weekend but I like to put things in order and in doing so I hope to drop some of this anxiety I am carrying around.
i am so sorry she didn’t get a witch part; I hope it’s still a fun experience. It so doesn’t feel like Halloween in So Cal! Today is calm for me, which is nice. reading, cleaning the bird bath, grocery shopping, laundry, and walking the dog. Not a bad Sunday.

Wisconsin is the same way. They can start the written portion of driver’s ed at age 15 but cannot get behind the wheel until 15 1/2.
Yep. 15 1/2 is kind of weird. I wish they would just make it 16.
Happy birthday to the Girl! I hope she had a wonderful day. After last week’s heartache, I know she deserves it.
I finally introduced H to Hocus Pocus. I don’t think she found it as amusing as I do. We also watched Maleficent too. That was really impressive. I am not an Angelina Jolie fan, but I thought she was superb in it.

I only watched a little bit of Hocus Pocus last year after many of my friends were surprised that I had not seen it. It was fun. I just never got to watch the rest of it before Halloween ended so I never finished it.
Maleficent was very good, I thought. I liked the strong female vibe.
Happy Birthday to her. I hope she has a great birthday. Nothing much exciting going on here. The weather has been hot here too, but we’ve started decorating slowly. Too slowly if you ask my daughter.
