Is It Time Yet?

Cat by the fireplace.

Today is my last day of work until January 9th and it could not have come soon enough. I feel like this cat, hot and bothered and just over it. I find myself staring into space which actually feels pretty good. I’ve never really done that before but I seem to be doing it a lot lately.

We don’t have any big holiday plans as a family besides the normal stuff but I am getting my reading stack together for the big end of the year push. SO many books that I want to get to. Why do I do this to myself? I guess because it’s kind of fun to put a stack together. It’s what we do, right? Plus, our yearly book club selection meeting always sneaks up on me so I’ve been putting ideas away for that too.

Just a few that recently came in:

Book Stack

Today it’s supposed to rain buckets. In reality we are expecting 2 inches but with the burn areas, 2 inches can cause loads of damage. We need the rain though.

Anyway, that’s it from me. When I get home, I am going to make spaghetti, light a candle and watch a few of the holiday shows I’ve got on the DVR. You?

  1. I know what you mean about that end of the year push and the stack of books. I just can’t help myself.

I wish I had the end of the year off, but alas, I only have 2 days after Christmas, which will have to do. I like that the actual holiday falls on a weekend.

I’m winding up the holiday shopping and looking forward to fun and Chinese food on Christmas eve with friends.

    1. I don’t know what it is about Chinese food at Christmas but it sure is good. I’m sorry you don’t have more time. I do hope you have a fabulous time with the time you have. I remember when I worked in banking and I had NO time. We worked right up to the holiday and then opened right after. Or retail! That was hell.

  2. I’m so jealous of your time off. I can’t complain too much because as a teacher I do get more time off than most…but I wouldn’t be upset if my break was longer. I am done the 22nd – January 2nd. I’m hoping for lots of time to read and relax!

    1. I’ve been here so long now that at the end of the year I am in a “use it” or “lose it” scenario. Not a bad situation to be in. I normally take an extra week at the end but my daughter’s break is shorter this year.

People keep asking me what ONE book I want to get to but I can’t name one. I have so many. In reality though I will probably only read one. Haha.

  3. That’s awesome you have time off – enjoy it 😉 That stack of books – so many great reads! I’m actually the opposite and wind up barely reading much during the holidays. I just finished a chunkster (854 pages) that I loved and think you would enjoy. Its called A True Novel and OMG it is so good! Its being touted as a remaking of Wuthering Heights set in postwar Japan. I can see the references to WH, but to be honest I just enjoyed the story without thinking about WH that much. Although, I do want to reread WH now. Anyhow, its a book I think you’d like. Have fun watching movies – I still need to watch my usual favorites this year.

  4. I don’t know why, but I usually don’t watch Christmas movies, but this year I’m dvr-ing every one I see and actually watch them.

I got to work this morning for my usual 4 hour shift but they asked me to work an extra 4 so I did. I work 2 more days and then get a break, one day, Sunday. Sadly, I have to work Christmas morning.

I’ve been in a bit of a reading slump so I’m going to work on that in 2017.

I hope you have a great time on your days off.

  5. I am SO happy for you on your long break!!! I know you need it after everything that you have been dealing with lately. Hopefully, you will get plenty of time to relax and think some things out and just reset for the new year!

  6. Oh gosh, enjoy your holiday break! If you don’t end up reading as much as you want to, don’t beat yourself up about that either. You’ve had a rough time lately, and if blankets and Netflix are what you want to spend your time on this holiday, that is totally awesome too. ❤

  7. I’m just trying to catch up over here! It’s been crazy busy this month that I’ve given up on blogging for now. I’m reading a little but only a little. Oh well, it’s best to just enjoy this time and then get back to reality from Jan.

  8. I hope you enjoy your holidays & time off from work! Have a very Merry Christmas. I don’t know any of the books in your stack. Let us know if they are good. I fly to the OC on Weds so I hope the weather will warm at least to the 60s. That cat photo is priceless. ha!
