It’s been a busy, fun weekend. We attended an 80s party last night. Hosted by a friend I had not seen in nearly thirty years. It was an awesome party. We had so much fun.
Right Now:
We had a big event for the junior high ministry which just ended a little while ago. Over 140 students, a rock wall, music and yes, craziness. I am just now sitting down which is why this comes to you late tonight.
This Week:
I have a few appointments this week and the call back list for the show posts Tuesday afternoon. That’s it though.
Reading:
I need to finish a book for a tour and then I am not sure what to read. My library holds are not cooperating at all.
Watching:
My DVR has an episode of Fear the Walking Dead that I need to watch, as well as an American Horror Story but I didn’t get to watch anything this weekend.
Making:
I don’t even know why I ask this anymore. It’s not that I am too busy to plan meals. It’s more like I just don’t want to take the time to do it these days.
Grateful for:
My sweet little pup. She is seriously the sweetest dog and always so happy when we come home. Such a warm, warm welcome.
That’s it. Hope you had a nice weekend.
What an awesome sounding weekend! I’m so with you on the pup being a great source of joy whenever I come home, too – I don’t remind myself of that often enough 🙂
And the best part is that pups have no concept of time so even when I return from taking the trash out she is just so happy to see me. So different than what I get from the kids. “I’m home!” Crickets.
That sounds like so much fun. An 80s party! I would have loved that. I hope you have some good reading time. My library holds always come at the same time over and over, and I never get through them all in time.
I had all the books on my old Kindle but you know that story… ugh.
The 80s party was such a blast and heavily themed. I felt like I had just stepped out of a time machine.
That party sounds like a blast. Did you get any pictures? (hint, hint)
I know what you mean when it comes to cooking. Cooking always seems like a great idea until I get home, and then I don’t want to take time away from something else to do so. Sheer laziness on my part, I fear.
I hope there is good news on the callback list for both of the kids. Have a great week!
I posted a couple of photos on Facebook but it was dark in there so they didn’t come out too well. What a blast though.
Oh the meal planning. You’re right–it’s not that I’m too busy, it’s just such a dreadful task. I’m actually thinking of doing Once a Month Cooking for next month. I think I’ve gone truly insane. But hamburger was on sale at Target yesterday, so I have 4 pounds of ground beef sitting in my fridge.
The ministry event sounds like so much fun. I loved doing stuff like that when I was younger. Sounds like lots of good things going on with you guys lately! How is the Teen settling in to after high school life?
It’s weird. I almost feel like stopping at the market each day would be easier than planning. When I do go to the market, I tend to try and get a lot of stuff but then I get home and there is literally nothing to make. Lots of money and nothing to show for it. But when I hit the market daily, I am not as overwhelmed and tend to only buy for the immediate future. Cheaper, more focused but I hate hitting the market. I can only do it on my way home and that means I have to pick up the Girl late and she hates that.
The Teen is doing well in college and his job seems to be going well. He helped build many of the mazes for Fright Fest at Six Flags and yesterday he worked from 4pm-1am escorting the actors around. It’s totally his thing. He and the Girl auditioned to be in Joseph so we find out about callbacks tomorrow.
I spent all morning on appointments and I am over them for a while. I hope I don’t have to go back for a while.
I really hate the “have to do” appts like the dentist, etc. Blah. I can think of a million other things I’d rather do. My one appt this week is a hair appt and I am debating a shorter cut. I do this at EVERY hair appt.
There will be time enough later for cooking. Don’t sweat it.
You are right. I’ve gained 10 lbs in three months from all the take out and I do make good choices about 80% of the time. I guess that 10% is catching up with me. That’s why I feel the need to cook but like you said there will be plenty of time for that someday.
I have not cooked in such a long time…I think I might miss it! You are so busy…too bad you don’t have a Wegman’s near you…fresh good local food…already prepped…you just have to pop it in the oven!
I wish we had a Wegman’s. Our Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s is wayyyyy on the other side of town so they aren’t really options either. I’ve been popping into the market every couple of days to get a few day’s worth of groceries but I wish we had little markets near us.
Isn’t having a dog the best? I have the best of both worlds in that I can go see my parents’ dog whenever I want, and she loves me to absolute pieces (I am her third favorite, after my parents), but I also do not have to worry about getting home from work in time to walk her. :p She’s just such a bundle of joy! I love her dumb puppy face!
My pup is only 7 lbs so she has pee pads that we leave out for her but she never uses them. She always waits for us to get home. She also does not eat or drink. She sleeps all day, like a cat. When we get home, after loving on us, she drinks a crap load of water, eats and then we have to take her for a long walk. We back to open hillside and have coyotes and rattlesnakes so a doggy door is not an option.
An 80’s party! That does sound fun. I am glad you had a good time, Ti. I hope the call back list was good news!
I’m one episode behind (as usual) on Fear of the Walking Dead. I’m already trying to figure out the logistics so I can watch the premiere of The Walking Dead either live or close enough to it I won’t be subject to spoilers. I’m not sure it’ll be possible, but I’ll try. Although admittedly, there’s a small part of me that wants the spoiler so I will be mentally prepared ahead of time . . .
My week so far has consisted of meetings, including a big all agency meeting with a dynamic guest speaker. Her name is Regina Louise and she talked about her experience with the foster care system. She was pretty amazing. Today I”m working on staff evaluations. So much fun. There was also soccer practice and Girl Scouts. I’m looking forward to going home tonight and not having any meetings or appointments.
I hope you have a great rest of the week, Ti!
