Life – These Days

It’s been eight weeks since my brain surgery and I feel that recovery from that went well, but then on Valentine’s day I ended up in the ER because of severe leg pain and shortness of breath.

Pulmonary embolism is no joke. My right lung was rendered useless from blood clots and because of my recent brain surgery they had to go very low dosage on the blood thinners and continue to check my brain for bleeds so I earned a three day stay at the hospital.

I am now at home and on blood thinners for the next three months. Hoping to regain my lung capacity and get my strength back. After all the heart tests it looks like my heart is okay but working hard to compensate for the lack of oxygen so I am on that too.

This recovery has been hard. I tend to not know what day it is and the days are soooooo long. NO reading either. Just too unfocused.

Just wanted to pop in for an update because it just hit me how long it’s been since my last post. Hopefully my next update will find me in a much better place.

  1. I wish I were closer. I would come and read to you. I’m so sorry this second thing has happen. I do thank you for writing. Many of us are thinking of you and wondering how you are doing.I do so love the first comment from “Notes”.

  2. Ti, I’m so glad you gave us an update on what’s been going on. And so sorry about the further issues. I have been and will continue to keep you in my prayers. I believe that ‘He’s’ got you in His arms. Take care, friend.

  3. Oh, Ti. You have been through so much! I hope you regain full lung capacity and start to feel stronger in the coming weeks. Thank you for keeping us updated. You’ve been missed! {Hugs}

  4. Sending good energy your way! I know how much you like reading – would an audio book work for you? My eyes are really bad and I had to switch to audio and I love having a book read to me. Lie back, rest and let your ears do the work for you’

  5. Oh Ti. When it rains, it pours. I am so sorry that recovery is hampered by other complications and hope that your doctors are monitoring you closely, keeping tabs on you, and that with each day you feel better and better. Sending hugs and love.

  6. So sorry Ti about the complications. Didn’t they put you on blood thinners after the surgery? Maybe they couldn’t, or only on a low dose. I was on blood thinners after my recent knee replacement. I know it’s a setback but each day you will get stronger. You will move beyond this … with small increments. And your heart & brain seem good. Stick with your recovery. Pulling for you.

    1. They couldn’t put me on blood thinners because of the brain surgery. Even now, months later I can’t take the dosage I really need to nip these clots. So I am still on them and will be for at least another month. I go for a CT lung scan on 5/19.

  7. You’ve really been through the wringer with all of this. Wishing you a quick and complete recovery now. Sending love and hugs.
