What you see above is my current review list and the publishing dates for each book. As you can see, I am a tad behind. It happens when you get overwhelmed with stuff and then take days, literally days weeks to mourn the loss of time but then you face facts and get down to business.
So, I’m sticking this here even though my spreadsheet has been staring me in the face for awhile. It’s not too bad. Right? This is just my review copy list. This doesn’t include my book club book for June (Fates and Furies) or the ones I’ve started and stopped numerous times because other duties have called. I just need to buckle down and get them read.
That said, reading is a priority from here on out. It should have been the entire time. It’s what grounds me and without it I get a little crazy. Plus, these are all books that I asked for. Clamored for, really. I am just excited to finally get to them!
Anyone else in the same boat?
Always…most of the time I just wing it!
You go through your stack pretty fast though. I get sidetracked these days. A bird can fly by and completely throw me off my game.
I am also in the “I’m behind” boat. With the moving this month, way behind. And I have BARKSKINS on my list. I see you have the Delillo. I will be waiting to hear what you think.
Oh! Barkskins is 750+ pages. I love a good chunkster though. Good luck with it!
I am exactly in the same boat. My list is just like yours and I am so behind, its ridiculous. And like you, they are all books I wanted to read ASAP. Except, that I found I would rather read Murakami’s Rat trilogy instead – which I LOVED!!! I have some of those books on your list. I really enjoyed Father’s Day. I couldn’t seem to get into The Fireman. I devoured City of Mirrors. The Woman in Cabin 10 is a quick and easy read that I know you will fly through. And Leave Me was another quick read, that I just didn’t really like all that much in the end. I’m interested to see what you think of it. Enjoy getting caught up in reading again!
Woman, you are way ahead of the game.
Nope, I’m looking forward to time on my boat with zero book requirements! Both book clubs take the summer off and I’ve already read the books they will start with in August/September. I had a lull after voraciously reading ALL the TOB books but I’m now back to building a tbr of sooner than later. But even that is negotiable. GOOD LUCK!
I loved Fates and Furies but I also wish that I had read it rather than audio-ing it. I missed the entire ‘chorus’ structure! oops. But I’ve never been very astute when it comes to mythology stuff.
So you are in a different boat. A real one! My list isn’t really all that bad. I just can’t get my act together. I feel like I am floundering around, staring off into space.
I’m like this at the moment too and have other non-bookish commitments that I’m behind on as well!
Usually I have this bump in my reading schedule during fall, not now so I feel a bit off. Sigh. I am almost done with the book I am reading so on to the next one!
As if I were that organized to know, LOL! But in any event, I rarely get ARCs anymore…. (probably because of lack of organized response, ha ha)
I’m sure you will pick up a few at BEA!
Hahahahaha, I try super hard not to ask for many review copies because I get anxious when I see a review schedule like this. WHAT IF I DO NOT READ THEM IN TIME is what I constantly ask myself. :p But you are probably like 100x more responsible than me and can totally handle it.
I don’t always read them in time but I do review them in a reasonable amount of time. I don’t like to do reviews on publication day anyway because it seems like everyone does and then my review just gets lost in the pile. See how I justified that?
I have 5 of those on my TBR list as well plus about 10 others LOL
(We do the best we can).
Ti,
I too am a bit overwhelmed by the stack of books I have to review. I agreed to review a bunch of indie press books and have only done 3 of them. I also have one I got for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. I’m buckling down and making sure I read more than I watch t.v.
I think it’s okay. You will catch up. If you catch up, that’s good; you can do it. Or not. If you don’t, you will pass on those you don’t really like. I think that’s okay, too.

Of course, what you say is absolutely right. If I am not enjoying something I nearly always put it down. These though, were drooled over by me so I feel as if I must get to them soon.
You’ll get there eventually, but I wouldn’t pressure myself if you’re not enjoying the books. Life is too short! I rarely get ARCs anymore and request very few from NetGalley, so I don’t have many commitments at the moment.
In this case the books are good. If they weren’t I wouldn’t even bother but these are all highly anticipated and one I just loved to pieces. I started a new book this morning and managed to get through 50% of it! I am going to try and finish it today.
I think I always feel behind! Right now I have book club tomorrow night and haven’t even started the book. I just got back from BEA and managed to pick up over 100 new books. I really want to read them, but then I have two more reviews scheduled for this week, and 80 books checked out from the library. Isn’t it great?!
I saw your stack on FB. Unreal!! How did you even get that home?
Yup, me too! Somehow, I have about 4-5 review books waiting to be read. I rarely have that many at any time so I don’t know what happened here. I just need to focus on reading too.
Well, I have to write some reviews too and it seems like my review writing capabilities have taken a vacation.
Kids are then only ones who get senioritis – it catches parents, too, as we wonder how our baby could possibly be graduating soon. Good luck with the reading!
I do feel a little strange. When I look at The Teen, I don’t see The Teen anymore. For the past few weeks he looks older to me and it’s a strange feeling. I will have to come up with another nick or actually use his name. Egads.
yes! I’m in the same boat. I have a few book tours and She Reads books scheduled through June. After that I’ll be tackling my netgalley list and reading books from my bookshelves. I need to stop accepting as many tours so I can get to my big stack. I have not been reading as much lately and it will take me forever to get through it if I don’t start now! Happy reading!
Yikes! Please don’t pressure yourself too much!
I hear you on reading grounding you! I need to make more time to do it. I had no idea that getting a kid ready for Kindergarten and getting before/after care would be so time consuming, plus her activities after school and on the weekend, as she tries out new sports, etc.
Currently listening to City of Mirrors (surprising, isn’t it?) and my next audio will be Fates and Furies (already bought & quite curious about it) Excited about your excitement!! :p
I am plowing through Fates and Furies right now because my club meets to discuss it tomorrow and I am nowhere close to finishing it. However, it started off a little weird but it’s moving along now.
