It’s been a little busy around here.
We hit another concert at the park yesterday. This time, it was 80’s music by The Spazmatics! What a crazy fun time. The Hub did not like the fact that they played mash-ups of 2-3 songs at once I didn’t mind it. It was just a way for them to get the most songs in, in such a short amount of time. But the crowd was crazy. It was the last concert and I think everyone in town went, which put The Hub on edge (a little bit). Who am I kidding? I was on edge too! It was close to 100 degrees and our umbrella kept getting blown over. In the end, it was fun though and two other families ended up joining us, which lightened the mood all around.
Then today, I had to do some shopping for myself. I do not like to shop for myself. In fact, I despise it. But I am in need of everything so it could not be put off any longer. Usually, I am a GAP girl and I did buy several tops from them, but everything else was…meh. Which led me to hit store after store and I really didn’t end up with anything else.
But, when I came home we picked up Chinese take-out and now I feel normal again. What is it about dressing rooms? They are about 10 degrees hotter than the store itself. I was so crabby after the whole experience.
What am I reading?
I am reading The Asylum by John Harwood. Still! It is a little slow for me but I am plodding along and should be done within a day or so. I am almost done with After Her by Joyce Maynard. This is a quicker read, and yet I find myself taking my time with it. I think I was reading these same books last Sunday so that should tell you how much reading is going on in my house.
What am I cooking?
Nothing! Chinese take-out saved me.
What am I watching?
I am watching Huell Howser right now and then I will watch whatever is on the DVR. Probably Seinfeld. My attention span is too short for a movie and it’s already late for me.
Tomorrow is the first day of school at the university where I work so it will be crazy busy with 45K+ students trying to find their way. Wish me luck!
Hmmm, something I’ve never heard of: Huell Howser. Now I have to look that up.
Yikes, 45,000 students?!? Good luck, lady. But I’m sure you’ll do fine.
It didn’t occur to me that you all wouldn’t know who he us, but since he was well known for his shows on California, I shouldn’t be surprised. Huell was awesome. He passed away not too long ago after losing his battle with cancer, but he did a shows for PBS/KCET where he just walked into little known gems of places, and interviewed the whoever was there.

What is Huell Howser?! Chinese take-out is the best, isn’t it?! I just love it. I especially hate shoe shopping…I find it to the be the worst, but my feet have issues, so its harder to find shoes.
I am going to copy and paste what I wrote to Bryan, but Huell Howser was a great guy who hosted a show on California places:

I hate shopping…all kinds of shopping except for books. I hate the crowds, and loud music, and the asshats that run the booths in the middle that practically molest you as you walk by. But with a teenage girl, I have to endure. The other kicker is that she will not go shopping for my stuff, so I have to go once with her and then again for myself. Ugh.
I just have a hard time finding stuff that I like. I took the girl with me and she was helpful this time, but usually she is not. I had to bribe her with Pinkberry.

WOW—45,000 students must be zooy for sure. My school is about 1/10 of that size:) I use to love shopping, but I prefer to buy certain brands on-line now whenever possible — especially jeans, tops etc. Hope your week goes well.
If I count the extension classes, then make that 51K!

Clothes shopping can be exhausting. I need to do it as well, but I just haven’t been motivated. Hmmm. Maybe it’s the extra pounds I am carrying around right now.
My 30th high school reunion is in a couple weeks so I’ve been listening to ’80s music lately. That concert sounds like it would have been perfect. 🙂
Don’t even mention the weight! That was a factor as well.

I hate, hate shopping for myself – even when I was much thinner I hated it. Nothing ever looks good on you in a dressing room. You’d think they’d move heaven and earth to make that a better experience. They’d sure sell more clothes! Good luck with the kids being back. I didn’t realize that was such a big university!
Guess you aren’t alone in your shopping hatred – the crowds, the hassle, not finding styles I like that look good on me. Maybe we should form a support group! 😉
I am not a fan of shopping for myself either. I get so frustrated, especially with the popular styles that flood the shelves these days. They are just not my style!!
I hope the first day back at the University went well. I used to work on a college campus, but this year I’m working from home. I kind of miss the excitement from that first week of classes!
I can live in Ts and jeans but finding the right T is a challenge these days! You think it would be easy.

So sorry shopping was stressful…I know what you mean…it’s a waste of valuable time…
