The Sunday Salon: Recovery

Sunday Salon

For those who celebrate it, did you all have a nice Thanksgiving? Mine was interesting. I got hit with a sinus infection a couple of days before the big day and it completely wiped me out. I don’t get sick often. Hardly ever really, and no one was sick around me so I have no idea how I got sick but it did a number on me. I couldn’t taste much but the family tells me that the meal was good.

I didn’t plan to do any shopping on Black Friday but the entire weekend is a blur to me. Between the fever and the heavy dosage of meds, the entire week flew by without me knowing it. I read two books, one of which was Swimming Home and let me tell you, that book was very strange! Was it my fever? Or was it the book? I’m not sure.

One thing I did a lot of, was eat. Apparently my fever had no effect on my appetite. I also watched a lot of movies. Must watch movies like Miracle on 34th Street, Christmas Vacation, Christmas with the Kranks and of course, Charlie Brown.  I indulged in some James Bond movies too…Casino Royale and You Only Live Twice. I love that my kids love these movies too. I didn’t get to see Skyfall though. I was just too sick and couldn’t hold my head up much less sit through a long movie.

Today, I am still wobbly but better. I’ve been reading The Twelve and really liking it. I put a big dent in it while sitting in bed.

Well, I am supposed to be at work tomorrow but The Girl’s filling fell out so I have to take half the day to get it fixed and then I’ll head to work. Hopefully I’ll be a lot better than I am now. Still not 100% but getting better each day.

Not sure what we have planned later. I have no food in the house except leftovers and the family has already told me “No leftovers for dinner!” so we might head out to get something.

On the kid front, The Boy is waiting for a Winter Formal invite. Exciting, but nerve-wracking too. The girls get to ask the guys this time around. Hope it happens soon so we can get the outfit stuff squared away. The Girl? She is busy making her Christmas list. It has changed numerous times and has been added on to, many times as well. I SO wish I could be a kid again.

As for the title of this post…I am recovering from being sick, but from also eating everything in sight. I never eat that way but when you’re sick, and your appetite is not affected in any way, you tend to grab for stuff blindly. I am polluted from head to toe. Tomorrow means getting back into a routine and that will be lovely (insert sarcasm here).

Anyway, Happy Sunday!

  1. It stinks to get sick before a holiday, but sounds like you still had a pretty good time anyway! I’ve been away from the blogosphere this whole week with all the cooking, cleaning, and visiting, and I’m easing my way back in. Don’t even want to think how behind I am on reviews!

  2. You have had kind of a rough week! I know what you mean…I want to eat plain lettuce for a month..or go on a cleanse…

  3. Sorry you’ve been feeling so bad. That isn’t fun when you’e the only one sick during a holiday! And I can relate to the whole constantly switching Christmas list. It changes any time we go to a store! He’s driving me nuts. Keeping my fingers crossed for the big dance invite.

  4. I’m so so sorry that you were struck with illness over your holiday week! It never fails that your body and sub-conscious knows when you will have some downtime and that’s when the germ-bugs strike!! I was eating everything in sight too, so don’t feel too bad. I have nothing to blame it on, either 😦

    Here’s to a better week!

  5. I would probably be more nervous than my kid about the dance invite. But he seems like a happening guy, he’ll probably have choices! And I’m so sorry you felt like crap for the whole holiday. Seems like there is always someone in my house that is sick at one point in that one month period.

  6. I hope you continue to feel better! I watched part of the Gone With the Wind marathon on tv. Doesn’t seem like a very good fit for Thanksgiving, unless it’s that we’re thankful our lives are not as horrible as Scarlet’s.

    1. I’ve never seen Gone with the Wind. I suppose I should see it someday, but I never have enough time to watch it all in one sitting and I know I’ll lose interest if I try to split it up.

  7. I spent the past week sick, too, and it sure made getting through the holiday tougher. Sounds like you still managed to get the big meal on the table – kudos to you, Mom!

    1. It really hit me right after the dinner. So sorry that you were sick too! I am still sick and alternate between massive headache and extreme nausea. I only feel good when I am eating but as soon as my stomach is empty…ugh.

I have the horribly busy work week ahead too. Hopefully, this is the worst of it.

  8. What a bummer to be sick on Thanksgiving, but at least you had an appetite! That’s a plus. I hope you start feeling better soon…and wow, when I’m sick I can hardly read! I generally just sleep.

  9. Oh, Ti, I am sorry that you were sick for Thanksgiving. I went and visited family, and our newest member who is only 4 months old had a wicked case of viral bronchitis. I escaped clean though, and I think that was due to diligent hand washing. I can’t wait to hear what you think about The Twelve. I am in the middle of The Passage, but have several books started that I have failed to finish entirely. I need to get that going! I hope that you start feeling better soon, and that you are back to your fun and funky self. It stinks to be sick 😦
