Tuesday Ramblings

I have my eye on American Lightning, by Howard Blum. I keep hearing more and more about it. Has anyone read it? If so, I would be interested in hearing your comments. Here is a little blurb from Powell’s.

American Lightning is history at its most gripping. Fans of Truman Capote’s In Cold Blood will not want to miss this one. The subject is the 1910 bombing of the Los Angeles Times offices, and Howard Blum’s narrative of America 100 years ago will appeal to crime buffs, Hollywood historians, and armchair detectives. With unforgettable characters and a thriller’s plot, American Lightning will keep you reading! Recommended by Beth, Powells.com
My brain is a tad scattered today. On my way home yesterday I saw a beautiful tree that I had planned to take a pic of, but was in a hurry so I put it off until this morning. However, when I got to the tree this morning, the tree was darn ugly and not picture worthy. I guess the afternoon sun made it look more attractive than it was. I’ll check it out on my way out today.
Sitting here twiddling my thumbs waiting for word on the audition. I have plenty to do of course but my attention span is that of a small child right now. Huh? What? What was I saying?
I am loving Tethered, by Amy MacKinnon. I could have stayed up all night reading it had it not been for my husband turning the light off on me. Sometimes…he can be so rude. The nerve!

Let’s see, what else is spinning away in my mind. Oh! My daughter’s bday. Tonight we will go out for her bday dinner. Here is a pic of her at the party we had last weekend. I Photoshopped her name off the crown so forgive me for the pink splotch!

Do you ever have days like these? Where your mind just continues to spin? I have Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas on the brain too. Don’t get me wrong. This is my favorite time of the year. I love prepping for this stuff. What about you guys? Do you plan early for the holidays or just roll with it?

The Week Ahead: October 6 -12, 2008

Where did the weekend go? I feel as if I just posted my week ahead and here I am posting another one. Looks like another busy week for me.

Monday, October 6, 2008 – Today is the day I announce the winner of an inscribed copy of Matrimony. Have to stop by the doctor’s office on my way to work. Yoga at noon and then rehearsal tonight. BTW, my son DID get a second callback on Sunday for Winthrop (The Music Man). He’s the kid that lisps! The final cast is posted on Tuesday. Cross your fingers! I am currently reading In The Woods, by Tana French.

Tuesday, October 7, 2008 – It’s my daughter’s 5th birthday today! Happy Bday to you sweetie! I have to teach a class today and then my women’s group meets for lunch. Tonight, taking the kidlets out in honor of Kidlet #2’s bday. Also trying to read Tethered which was sent to me as part of the Read It Forward program. Tonight we find out of my son got the part.

Wednesday, October 8, 2008 – Not much going on at work today. Trying to update some documents and I have a meeting later. Nothing major. Yoga at noon. Have I mentioned how much I am enjoying yoga? If you have never tried it yourself, give it a try. It’s so relaxing! Hopefully my son will have rehearsal tonight. He will if he got the part (see above).

Thursday, October 9, 2008 – Hoping to have my review of Tethered posted sometime today. I’m also reading The Photoshop Elements 6 Book For Digital Photographers. I have been trying to learn Elements. I enjoy taking pics but I am really interested in enhancing some of my photos and so I bought this book to help.

Friday, October 10, 2008 – Nothing going on today and no plans tonight. A free night! Looking forward to hunkering down with In The Woods. I also have to write out some thank you cards.

The Weekend – Saturday night we are going to a viewing of one of the shows my son was in (Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat). They rented an outdoor amphitheater and we’ll bring lawn chairs and blankets and eat some nibbly bits while enjoying the show. It’s great because my son has never seen himself since we are not allowed to videotape the shows. Sunday I am going to try and go to a card making workshop, but it will depend on my husband. He may take my son to a theme park which will conflict with the workshop. If I do end up home, maybe I will begin making my Halloween cards.

Do you have your Halloween stuff up yet? As I am writing this, my husband was suppose to pull down my Fall decor but he is currently eating popcorn on the couch and watching football. For some reason, I don’t think it is going to happen.
