Sunday Matters: All Sorts of Good Stuff

Sunday Matters

I have a high school senior and a 7th grader! Hard to believe. Walking into that school for the last time got me all choked up.

So…

I made the decision to just take a break from blogging this week. The end of the year stuff can be overwhelming and since I had to stay home on Monday with the strangest virus ever, I decided, what the heck and just took a break.

Here’s one of the few pictures she allowed me to take.

6th Grade Promotion

Right Now:

I haven’t been sleeping all that great. I’ve had trouble shutting my brain down at night but it is wonderful to grab a few extra hours of sleep on a Sunday, isn’t it? I feel so refreshed when that happens.

This morning, a bit of coffee and something to eat and then we are off to church. I’ve had a thing for eggs over easy for three weeks now and today is no exception. What I REALLY want is a bagel, slathered with cream cheese, sliced avocado and a thick slice of tomato but my gluten-free self cries when I think of it so eggs over easy work too.

This Week:

It’s production week for The Sound of Music but with only one kid in the show, the call times are manageable. No running back and forth and only a few late nights.

Reading:

I finished Misery for the #MiseryRAL. I think both of these buttons were created by Jenni. Correct me if I am wrong! But what fun we had! I won’t say much because some of you are still reading but it was a real party. No lie.

#MiseryRAL

I took a break from A Little Life to finish Misery so I will get back to that one soon. I also started Luckiest Girl Alive on audio. The main character is so shallow but I am just now getting to the meat of the story.

Watching:

I finished Mad Men, Season 5 and started Season 6. I am going to be sad when I hit the end of this series. It’s been my lunch time companion for several weeks now. I love Sally Draper. There’s something about her character. She’s rebellious and every time she’s in an episode I know Betty is going to lose it in some way.  I really love Joan too. Hmmm. Okay, Don as well even though he can be a total you know what.

I watched the return of Orange is the New Black. Is it just me or was it a little flat?

Last night, we actually went to the movies to see San Andreas. The Girl is terrified of earthquakes but she was at a slumber party so we took advantage of it and went. It was pretty good!

Making:

I made tacos this week. I also made spaghetti with bell peppers and ground turkey, pizza another night and yes, breakfast for dinner (for me). This gluten free stuff is for the birds sometimes.

Grateful for:

I took last Friday off for the promotion ceremony. It’s so nice to have the extra day. I am grateful that I was able to take it.

That’s it for me. What’s up with you?

Sunday Matters: Downtime

Sunday Matters

How are you doing this fine morning? I think most families are beginning to wind down. I know that we are in the final stretch. The Teen is now a senior and The Girl promotes this Friday. It’s true, The Teen starts summer school tomorrow. Not much of a break for him but to keep doing what he does, he has to take his required courses over the summer.

As for work. The university has classes year round so we don’t get much of a break during the summer but the pace does slow down, which allows me to work on all of the projects I haven’t had time for.

Regardless, it just FEELS like summer now. I want to sip iced tea and swing on a hammock. I don’t own a hammock but it does sounds nice, doesn’t it?

Right Now:

I am sipping coffee, eating cinnamon toast and getting ready for church. A new series starts today called, Respect the Beard. I have no idea what it’s about. Sounds very interesting though,

This Week:

This should be a good week. The only thing I have on the calendar, is The Girl’s promotion ceremony on Friday. I am taking the day off. The Hub will attend the ceremony, go back to work, and then we’ll all meet-up to have dinner.

Reading:

Still reading Misery for a read along (#MiseryRAL) and it’s SO MUCH FUN.

Still reading A Little Life.

I finished All the Light We Cannot See. For the most part, I enjoyed it but there were a couple of things that seemed a little too convenient to me.

Never got around to picking up King’s new book, Finders Keepers.  I plan to get it very soon, but I just haven’t been able to hit the store and I haven’t decided if I want it on my Kindle or not.

I will be announcing the read along I am hosting in July very soon. It’s a chunkster. I know many groan when I mention the book in question but come on! It will be fun. More on that soon.

Watching:

I haven’t been able to watch Mad Men at all this week. My secret hiding spot at work was booked for a conference all week long and that’s usually where I hole-up to do my Netflix bingeing.

Doesn’t Orange Is the New Black start this week? Need to make some time for that one.

Making:

Yesterday, I made the best Dijon Chicken.  Another blogger posted it on Facebook and it was so easy and super delish! Thanks, Patty! It was really nice to eat a home cooked meal. We’ve been eating so much take-out  that I was craving real food, cooked at home.

Tonight, I’ll probably make  tacos. I need something easy and quick since I am volunteering at the church later.

Grateful for:

Downtime. Rest. Naps. I came home from my dental appointment Saturday and collapsed. My bed never felt so good. SO grateful to finally have a moment to breathe.

What’s been going on with you? What do you have planned for the week?
