Sunday Matters: Oh Boy

Sunday Matters, a latte on a wooden tray against greenery.

Hey, friends. I’m good but so much is happening. A death in the family, my daughter leaving NYC on 10/3, my son’s new job with the city of Bellevue, and a busy schedule that isn’t sustainable long term.

Right Now:

Heading out the door soon to hang with the students at church. They impress me every week.

This Week:

I cannot believe we are headed into October.

Emma leaves this week with her cat to begin her life in NYC. She found a really nice four bedroom apartment in Manhattan!! Auditions continue.

I’ve been pulled into so many directions lately that my reading took a hit. Using this week to get back to it.

Reading:

I’m hosting book club this month and I selected Cat’s Eye by Margaret Atwood. Should be plenty to discuss.

Watching:

My daughter insisted I watch two movies with her:

  • Heretic
  • The Substance

Both, absolutely wild.

Grateful for:

  • Supportive friends
  • Cool mornings
  • My little pup who is still hanging on but clearly declining.
  • Friends who immediately recognize nonsense and don’t support it

That’s all I have. Hope you are well. Wish me luck getting back into reading. This entire year has been a challenge.

  1. I hope Emma has a safe trip to the City and has a wonderful time going to auditions and doing shows. I was in NYC Friday night and hung out in Harlem with my daughter’s boyfriend and his family, which was really fun.

      1. I was in NY a couple weeks ago and spent an evening in Harlem, which was really fun. I hope she’s having a great time!

  2. Ti, I’ve missed you, but I’m glad to know that you are getting time to spend with Emma before she heads to NYC. Good luck to her settling in and with her auditions. So sorry about your family member’s passing. Hope your schedule eases up a bit and I am so glad that you have your church involvement with the kids. I suspect that you are influencing them in ways you can’t even imagine. Take care, friend!

    1. I miss you too!! Work has been absolutely crazy as well. Some changes have really impacted my time away from the office. It’s non-stop. Trying to get a handle on it all.

  3. Sounds like life have been pretty hectic lately. Sorry to hear about the death in your family. Best of luck to Emma as she begins life in NYC. Glad she found a nice apartment… that’s quite a feat these days!! We’ll be there for several days in October – first time this year. Can’t wait!

    1. I’m doing okay. The loss was expected. We have the celebration of life this weekend. I just wish life would slow down a tiny bit. Just too busy these days. I hope you guys are well!

  4. Condolences to your family for your sudden loss. I hope that your daughter enjoys NYC and gets parts she loves. I hope all else is well. I know how hard it is to watch a pup on the decline. Find some quiet and peace when you can.

      1. It’s hard to watch the pups we’ve loved and cared for decline. Sonia, our husky, passed in our home 5 days before Christmas last year. I’m still grieving her. Take care.

        1. I just walked past the pup and for a full minute thought she had passed and then she looked up at me like, “What the hell is wrong with you?” LOL.

  5. So sorry to hear there was a death in your family, praying for all of you!

I hope your son loves his new job and that Emma is loving NYC, I love it there!

Give Otter pup and extra hug from me. It’s so hard emotionally when our animals start getting older. I’m still grieving Patches and it will be 10 years soon. She was my shadow and soul dog.

    1. Last year at this time I said that the Otter Pup wouldn’t make it through Christmas and she sure did. But now, she is really not doing well. I came downstairs this morning and she was sprawled out. Something fell on top of her. A light thing but she was so confused, she just stayed there.

  6. Ugh. I’m so sorry about your family’s loss. I was just telling my husband the other night that it seems like there have been so many deaths recently. (I don’t know if you saw my post, but Nan of Letters from a Hill Farm passed away last month. Such a sad loss for the old blogging community.)

Congrats to Emma. I’m sure she’s excited to have a nice apt in Manhattan! I know I would be.

Your pup just doesn’t want to leave you. What a trooper!

  7. Hope you are well — things seem hectic and sorry for your loss. ugh that’s hard. But so glad for Emma on starting her days in NYC … that’s awesome ! Hug OtterPup. You’ve given her a great life.

    1. My little Otter Pup is still hanging on. She perked up when my son came for a short visit. She isn’t in pain but starting to be very disoriented. Keeping an eye on her. She is the best pup.
