Sunday Matters: Coming Up for Air

Sunday Matters

Earlier this week I shared a Life Update and since then I’ve been sitting with the knowledge I have and just feeling all weird about it. Everything will be fine and I am doing well at the moment. I am trying to stay busy and since my Winter break begins soon that means a lot of last minute tasks.

Right Now:

Today is the student ministry Christmas party so that will be a blast. They always have to take the Karaoke away from me.

Tonight we go with friends to drive around and look at lights. Cookies, hot chocolate and conversation.

This Week:

Monday I am working from home. Tuesday and Wednesday I plan to go into the office. Then, I am off until January 2. I usually take more time off but since the kids won’t be here for break I kept it brief as I will need the time later.

Reading:

I am reading Happiness Falls. My reading totals are really horrible this year. With everything going on, distraction got the best of me. This will probably be my last book of the year.

Happiness Falls

Watching:

There are so many shows I want to watch but so far it’s not happening. Again, that distraction thing.

Grateful for:

Not happy that it took so long for a doctor to listen to me but grateful that I can move forward now and hopefully have a good resolution. Your takeaway, if you feel that there is something wrong with your health, keep pushing. It took me over a year to get scanned and I have probably been dealing with it for over two years according to the doc.

I hope you are all doing well. I’ve missed everyone.

  1. I hate hearing about people who have to advocate so strongly for themselves to get the tests/scans they need. I feel we often have symptoms dismissed by our doctors and that isn’t how it should be! I am so glad you have information now and that things are moving forward.

  2. I had a crap Dr. for years. A few months ago I switched and now I have a Dr. that is highly recommended by everyone who knows him including people I know in the health field. He takes time with his patients, asks questions, and listens to everything they want to ask him. He’s ordered 4 tests for me that no other Dr. ever did. He’s great!

Keeping you in my prayers. My BFF from grade school also has a brain tumor. She has a great Dr. and she’s doing good. She moved not far from me in Florida.

  3. I am so glad there’s finally an answer, and I hope they take you seriously going forward and make you a partner in your own care. I can see why you’d be distracted, and that’s ok! Hugs for you always. Also, I love that they have to tear away the karaoke machine. 🙂

  4. Yikes isn’t that terrible — that you’ve had it for Two years and the doctors didn’t detect anything … or even try? You were your own advocate … and thank goodness. I hope it will be gone soon and you will be able to feel better. Keep us posted.

    1. They kept blaming it on all the autoimmune disorders that I somehow got all at once. Rheumatoid Arthritis, Lupus, Sjogrens, Scleroderma, Celiac. But none of those causes tremors, gait issues, etc. One day I walked to lunch with colleagues and could not make my legs move to walk back.
