Sunday Matters: I’m Back

sunday-matters (1)
After my week at camp,  I was exhausted and just lost track of time. Didn’t mean to take a break but that’s what I ended up doing. The week went very well. I love those students and leaders so much. Now I am fully rested and ready to catch-up on reading and everything else. How have you been? Have I missed any big news?

Right Now:

In a minute I’ll be at student ministry. Gotta grab one more cup of coffee.

Reading:

I finished It All Comes Down To This by Therese Anne Fowler but totally forgot the ending so had to read the last few pages again. I need to write the review but this one will be tricky to write.

It All Comes Down to This

I am about halfway through with Beartown. Yes! I am finally reading it. I wasn’t too jazzed about it because I am not into hockey but it’s not at all what I expected. I should be done with it this weekend.

Watching:

We started a Korean show called Sweet Home. It’s very weird and borders on hokey. The CGI is not the greatest. It’s a pandemic where people turn into horrible monsters but many different types of monsters. Right now at three episodes in I am not sure where the story can go. It seems like a lot of carnage with no way out of it.

Grateful for:

  • Great books on my “to be read” shelf. I am at no shortage of good books this summer.
  • DIY hair color. I became a pro at it during the pandemic when my stylist closed up shop without warning. It’s easy, cheap and makes me look ten years younger.

Have a wonderful Sunday! My daughter is still home and has a friend visiting this week. I did buy her plane ticket back so she will be back in Missouri 8/6. Also, I go back to work two days a week beginning 8/9!

  1. Glad you are back and rested. Can’t believe it’s only a few weeks until your daughter will be back at school. It bet life will feel different with her gone and you going back to campus a few days a week. I can see Otter Pup in mourning now:) I’ll be curious to read your thoughts on, It All Comes Down to This – that book did not work for me. Hope you have a good week.

  2. I loved Beartown (and don’t care for hockey) and like you, it wasn’t at all what I expected. I tried to watch the movie but couldn’t get interested. Wow! It seems like your daughter just got home and now she’s living in a month. I’m sure that time will fly, but you’ll make the most of your time with her. Glad you’re feeling rested. You were missed!

    1. Thank you. I was so out of it for a good week that I totally forgot that I finished as book. I had to go back and read the ending again. That review is going to be tough to write.

  3. Good to see you here! Glad you had a nice time and feel rested. Yes, can’t believe it’s already time to be planning for your girl to go back. Take care and enjoy your reading!!

    1. I can’t believe it’s time for her to head back to school soon either. She’s been working full time so we only see her in the evenings and a little on the weekend. We’ve seen more of her recently as her friends have COVID and are in quarantine.

  4. How fun to have your daughter home for almost another month and that you don’t have to go back to in person work until after she leaves. It will be interesting to see how going back in person feels after establishing a routine working at home.

    1. I had been asking about my return to work for a really long time with no response so when they asked me to come back in July I was like, how about 8/9? LOL. She uses my car for work so starting work after she returns makes sense.

  5. Glad you’re back and recovered… but is it really time to start planning for the return to school already?! At least there’s another month left. We’re in CT for the summer and have settled into a nice routine. We get to see the girls more often when we’re here and it’s easier to visit my parents, too. I’m also trying to keep up the book a week reading pace.

    1. It’s seriously unfair how fast time goes by. She’s been home since May 19th but she has been working 40 hours a week and chills in her room when she gets home so we really haven’t seen much of her but the pup is in heaven. She loves to listen to her singing.

  6. Glad you had a great time and are rested! I LOVED Beartown and all of his other books except for Us Against You, which was a DNF not far into the book. I may pick it up again sometime, books deserve a second chance. Glad to hear your daughter is home for a while more. Have a great week!

    1. I am enjoying Beartown and will try to read all the books before the new one hits in October. We’ll see how the others work for me.
