Sunday Matters: Spring Forward (Meh)

Sunday Matters

Every time I write up one of these posts I can’t believe it’s already Sunday again. It’s gotta be age that makes the time fly like this because I don’t remember it doing that when I was younger.

Oh, and of course we just pushed the clocks ahead which always messes me up. No problem with “fall back” but “spring forward” and I are not friendly.

Right Now:

We had a volleyball tournament yesterday so we are all wiped out but I am about to meet some folks soon so I have a few hours to perk up.

This Week:

Guys, it happened. The Girl got the part she wanted in Oliver! She is he undertaker’s wife, Mrs. Sowerberry. She gets to sing That’s Your Funeral. She is so excited! Along with that, she has rehearsals for a theatre competition, volleyball practice, etc. I’ve got life group, volunteering and all that other good stuff.

Reading:

I am still reading Future Home of the Living God. I mentioned that it was slow-going for me but I am getting into it now.

I have a book tour next week so I started Rainbirds as well. This one gets bonus points for the gorgeous cover. I am a sucker for a good cover.

Watching:

Some of my friends and co-workers have stopped watching The Walking Dead so I don’t have many people to discuss the show with anymore.  That has been a bit of a downer, to be honest. However, the show is getting interesting again. It lacks that frantic pace and emotional tug that it had in previous seasons but I just want to be entertained, you know?

Last week, we watched Dunkirk. When my husband suggested it, I was like, “The Girl is not going to be interested.” But then, she WAS and in a big way. I was surprised.

Then, I wasn’t.

Any One Direction fans out there?

Making:

Guys, I’ve been cooking! I made Chicken Curry, pizza, tomato and basil pasta, and pan-fried fish. I am now craving the Pozole my friend made for our life group. Her recipe is a little bit of this and that but I included a  Wiki link in case you are not familiar with what it is.

Grateful for:

The First 5 app. It’s a way to study the Bible in 5 minutes a day. I spend at least an hour in study M-F but this app is what gets the wheels turning. It’s free. They also have  beautiful experience guides if you want to go a little deeper in your study. I LOVE how pretty they are. They are sold through Proverbs 31. I get nothing for this mention but I have been using that app for quite a while now.

That’s it from me. What is going on with you?

  1. You are so busy! I love when you cook. And hurray for your daughter! I did not think I wanted to watch Dunkirk but now I think I might…Den wanted me to watch it with him and I have been avoiding it! You are mighty!

  2. I don’t like either time change. I wish they’d pick one time and stick with it all year long. I’ll whine about this time change for at least a week.

Congratulations to The Girl! She sure does have a lot going on.

  3. First, congratulations to The Girl on getting the roles she wanted. Second, age and clocks moving ahead, I don’t feel time is slowing down here and why I know I need to use it more wisely…and appreciate every moment I have. Third, I did not know who Harry Styles, or One Direction was, until a few years ago when I found a photo of him in a returned book at the library, and I think my wife told me who they were.

  4. Congrats to your daughter…and I still can’t believe we had to change the clocks…AGAIN. Didn’t we just do that? Yeah, it was only 4 months ago.

Luckily, I had taken the batteries out of some of my decorative clocks, as I hated removing them from the wall, changing the time, and hanging them again. It felt as though I had lost another hour of my life! LOL

Still…it took a good fifteen minutes to change everything.

    Groaning much? LOL

Enjoy your week, and here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

  5. Congratulations to The Girl, Ti! I love Oliver…when I was in high school, I was a rose seller — Who Will Buy? Thank you for the tip on the First 5 app…downloading now! ❤

  6. I am so excited that your daughter got the part she wants; happy days in your household! And we’ve got rain with more on the way. Things are looking up in So Cal.

  7. Congrats to The Girl!! How exciting!!

The time change is the worst – hate it. That Future book sounds interesting, but not sure its for me. Hope you like Rainbirds – I did 🙂 As your friend who is still sticking with TWD – I really wonder sometimes why I’m sticking with it. I think its like you said – its lacks the frantic pace and emotional tug that I am used to. But I’m going to stick with it, because I do love Daryl and Michonne – the only two characters I care about anymore. Yay to cooking – all that food sounds yummy!

Hope you have a great week!!

  8. I didn’t realize Harry Styles was in Dunkirk, LOL. So glad the Girl got the part in Oliver, congrats! The time change is kicking my rear, can’t sleep well. I admit we dropped off of Walking Dead last year — my husband was tired of it, but are Carol & Rick still in it? We are enjoying Season 2 of the Crown — it’s pretty sedate but good too. Cheers.

  9. Stupid motherf(*@king time change. The time for DST is over. We need one freaking time and stick with it all year long.

YAY!!!!!!!!!!! I am so happy for The Teen!!! Perseverance pays off, eh?

  10. I once read that the more our brain goes on autopilot (eating, walking, driving, etc.) the more we feel like time is speeding up. When our brain encounters something novel or difficult (requiring our attention and awareness) time will “slow” down. Some recommend doing puzzles or learning a new language, or something like that, to engage the brain in a way that requires more presence of mind. It didn’t happen to us as children, because all our experiences were new.

Meanwhile, I don’t know what the hell happened to February…

  11. Sounds like you have a lot going on as usual. I love that your daughter got the part she wanted. Very exciting. I hope you find some downtime. I haven’t been watching the Walking Dead since Neegan came on the scene.

    1. I love Negan as a character. I feel like they don’t do enough with him though. He had this big entrance and now… not much of a presence. No action really on his part.
