I survived my first week back at work. I was a prepping queen and spent every evening prepping for the next day but it paid off. No frazzled mornings. Also, you will all be proud of me but I went to bed early nearly every single night. I know. What? ME! Check my temperature.
Right Now:
I am just kicking back, checking out the morning happenings with my coffee in hand. In a little bit we will hit church and then I will go back for the middle-school ministry. Sundays can be full but it’s a “good” full. Know what I mean?
This Week:
I love that we have the day off on Monday. My husband has to work though which is a drag and I think The Girl still has rehearsal. I should confirm that.
Other than that, I think The Girl has some informal track practices and I have our yearly book selection meeting for book club. Work is ramping up because the semester starts soon but spring is so much easier than fall. Usually. Hoping for a good week.
Reading:
I just finished The Invaders by Karolina Waclawiak. At first, I loved it, then I didn’t like it, then I loved it again , You will have to wait for the review to hear how I feel about it now. It’s not often that I go back and forth like that with a book.
Watching:
Not much. I did manage to watch Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and I just bought a copy of Working Girl but what I’d like to see is The Martian on demand. Not sure I’ll have time for it today.
Making:
Wings! I made wings again. Very tasty. Also made turkey tacos with lots of cheese and hot sauce and guacamole too, which makes everything better.
One day this week we’ll have breakfast for dinner and another night, my gluten-free version of Hamburger Mac. The rest is up in the air.
Grateful for:
Friends. Some of you know me so well and know when I need a kind word. Thank you.
That’s it from me. What are you up to?
You’ve made me very curious about The Invaders. Enjoy the rest of your long weekend!
I am up watching the Seahawk Vs. Panther game. Then it will be off to the grocery store and then time to just chill–and probably knit. Right now I am waiting for my Nyquil fog to burn off! I am so happy to have tomorrow off too! I applaud you for getting to bed early–that is something I am working on also and actually managed to pull off most nights this past week too!
Have a super week…
xoxoox
Now that sounds like a great week. Are you feeling rested? Wings! I want some…that book sounds really good…I am checking it out now!
We are in the family room…with a toasty fire in the fireplace…getting ready to watch football…I am more reading than prepping to watch. I have everything I need to make either Homemade Manicotti…the one where you make the shells from crepes…or Stuffed Cabbage Soup which has meat and rice and a tomatoey broth…I am waiting for Den to decide. In the meantime…I am warming Slow Cooker Enchilada soup…leftover from Friday…it was soooooo delicious! Topped with a dollop of Greek Yogurt and crispy chips!
Enjoy your day!
Ah that’s a good work week! My first week back at work is always the worst so I’m gla that’s not the case with you. Would have enjoyed a day off tomorrow but I should probably not hope for that seeing as I was off on Friday dealing with a nanny mess.
Uh oh. What happened with the nanny?
Prepping really does pay off, doesn’t it? I find that to be true for me as well. I am glad you were able to get to sleep early last week as well. I need to do that more often, but it’s hard with Mouse. We go to bed at the same time and so for me to go early means going to bed before her.
We’re all looking forward to having tomorrow off together. It’s my husband’s last week off before he starts his new job. Mouse is feeling a little under the weather, I think. She’s laying down with a tummy ache. Poor girl.
I hope you have a great week, Ti. Take care of yourself!
You hub starts a new job? Exciting, yes? I hope Mouse feels better today. It was so gloomy out yesterday. I was feeling a bit off myself.
I would be DEAD if we didn’t have tomorrow off. I did lots and lots of socializing this weekend, and now I basically just need to sit in the dark forever. Enjoy your extra day!
Did you manage to sit in the dark forever? LOL. It was a gloomy day in Southern California so I sat in the dark whether I wanted to or not. I read all day. Finished an entire book in one sitting which was glorious. Now, I am back at work. Meh.
Long weekends are sorely needed! I really need them to recharge. We had a chance outing on Saturday with KitKat’s preschool friend and parents at the library….we both happened to be there at the same time and decided to hang out with the kids and then have lunch. That was nice…Sunday was swim class and movie day and today is just us bumming around while daddy works.
I find that I don’t socialize much in real life. I do a little but not much. I am often too worn out from the work week and just want to hang out at home. This week is my book club’s selection meeting for the year. It’s a fun event but also a little stressful coming up with a list you’ll want to read even a year from now. But there will be food and wine and lots of book talk so I am looking forward to it.
Every time I think I’ll get in the habit of going to bed early, it lasts about a week. Hope you can keep it up – I know I feel much better when I’m doing it.
I went to bed early last night but didn’t go to sleep early because my family could not settle down AND I had a raging sore throat. But, I am full of vitamin C and gargling up a storm and at work today. Today is the first time since returning to work that I feel run down.
