This past week went by quickly. There was lots to do between work and all the other stuff going on but nothing too major. The Girl auditioned for choir but we don’t know if she’s in yet and she didn’t think to ask when the results would be posted. Thanks for all of the good luck wishes. I’ll let you know the outcome.
The track meet yesterday was a long day of cold! The rain held off but I am still trying to defrost my behind after sitting on those metal bleachers.
The Girl got 1st place for the 100m. First time she’s done that. I was at the finish line and it was so close. She was so focused. Maybe because it was so freakin’ cold and she had been out on the field for an hour in staging in nothing but her track uniform, which isn’t much but it was so awesome to see!
The Teen passed his last driving lesson. Time for the real deal now. He’s rehearsing for Dirty Rotten Scoundrels which will be the weekend of the 7th. It’s coming up fast. He finishes his SAT prep class this week and will take the test this Saturday while we are in Simi Valley for JV finals.
I was finally told where my office space will be. It’s got some privacy but it has no view of a window. I DO have two windows but they overlook a hallway. Why? I haven’t a clue. There are shades on them but they are a little transparent. I may feel like I am being watched but maybe not. I will take a picture when I can. The person who is currently there hasn’t packed yet.
Right Now:
Coffee! Lots of it. I am going to church today for my regular service and then taking The Girl to a teen group later in the afternoon. I submitted my application to volunteer in the student ministry. Me! I know. I have a lot on my plate but at the same time, I feel the need to give back. My childhood and other things I have been through have led me here and even though it’s a little scary, I am taking the plunge.
This Week:
We had a logo change at work which has affected all of our webpages, stationary, etc. I will be busy updating what needs to be updated.
Trying to also figure out how to celebrate The Hub’s birthday which is this Saturday. We have a track meet that day and we have to somehow get The Teen to his SAT class which is not in our home town.
Reading:
The Children’s Crusade by Ann Packer. It wasn’t working for me at first, but now that I am at 60%, I find myself reaching for it.
Watching:
Still watching Mad Men. Also got The Girl to see Star Wars IV for the first time. We will be watching V and VI next week. Trying to get ready for the new one coming out. It was fun to see again. A rather simple story line which I actually remembered pretty well. She likes Chewbacca the most!
Making:
Not sure. I have a bunch of chicken. Maybe a chicken stir fry?
Grateful for:
Family time. I love it when we watch a movie as a family and we were able to do that this weekend.
Test.
You passed. 🙂
Star Wars for the first time? Oh, I remember it well. I actually didn’t see it until I was in my 20s, maybe even 30, but it is one of my favorites.
How about chicken wings for the chicken? 😉
We are having steak! Changed my mind.

Looks like our girls are both doing well in the 100M. What was her time?
Congrats to The Girl on her track accomplishment!
It was disgusting here yesterday – cold, windy, rainy, but today it looks sunny and warm. Unfortunately I’m in bed sick. I thought it might be allergies yesterday, but I woke up in the night with a horrible sore throat. I’ve heard from co-workers who have had this that it is miserable.
Maybe I can get some reading done since I’m pretty much just relaxing and resting.
Sore throats are the worst! Are you feeling better today? I felt like I was coming down with something but nuked myself with Vitamin C every couple of hours and I seem to have won the battle.
Congrats to your daughter! I remember those lovely metal bleachers from my girl’s softball games. They are hard and do get cold or hot, as the case may be. I understand about wanting to give back and work with student ministry. You know, your kids only have one go-around and it’s nice to be able to help out with something they are involved in. We were very involved in our church youth events when our girl was a teen. And then, as we just had the one, we were done with that. 🙂
Oh, and good luck to your son on the driving test.
My daughter just started the middle school program at church. So far she is loving it. It goes from 6-8th and then she will move onto the high school group. Yes, it all goes by so fast.
Getting some rain in the Albuquerque area. Beautiful grey day and a chilly 50 degrees. It’s an NBA afternoon for me.
We had those lovely clouds but very little rain. No more than a sprinkle and today it’s 83 so whatever moisture we had it is now well gone.
My, it looks cold at that track meet. What’s going on in Calif? My mom said it rained! Good for the drought. A big congrats to The Girl on the 100 m dash. That’s fantastic!
By us, it barely rained. Maybe a few drops and now it’s back to the 80s. It’s so dry and crisp here today.
Huge congrats to The Girl! And I’m keeping my fingers crossed about her choir audition, sending all around good vibes your way.
And kudos for submitting your volunteer application. You do have a lot in your plate but I know what you mean about wanting to give back. I’m sure everything will fall into place.
Congrats to The Girl – that’s awesome! Good luck to her on the audition results for choir – fingers crossed! I think its awesome you are going to volunteer 🙂 And what is up with placing windows that look out into hallways? That is just crazy and a bit big brother-ish. Hope you have a great week!!
I adore Chewie! And Yoda, of course. I am so happy to hear she got 1st place! Congrats to her, and fingers cross for her choir audition. Sounds like the Teen might be on his way to getting himself around to his practices and such. Independent, he will be. I hope all is well with you.
Fingers crossed for the Girl!! I hope she gets the call back. Also, congrats to her for winning the race! That photo looks seriously beautiful! All those gathering clouds. I could never understand those hallway windows either – I find them very intrusive. I hope you will be able to transform your new office to something private and also a place you want to go to every day!
Thanks for tweeting about the commenting issue. Maybe that is why they fixed it! I submitted a ticket but they never got back to me. Oh, the hallway windows are ridiculous!! They overlook the copy room. Why?? I don’t need to see if anyone is in there. So silly.
Windows into a copy room? Useless! I sure hope you are all settled in and cozy in your new spot by now. 🙂 Congrats on the girl and the boys’ accomplishments. You have lots to be proud of! I say, go for the volunteer opportunity–you won’t be sorry.
xoxoxo
Even more useless is that it’s a window into the HALLWAY going to the copy room. No. Not moved yet and they have no ETA. I have been packed for three weeks and now cannot find a thing.
SO, I tried to comment from my iPad but was not able. I was traveling. I’m home now. I can’t believe (sadly, I *can*) they don’t yet have your new office ready! Grrrrrr… TEST. THIS IS A TEST.
I think it may be weeks before I move and my stuff has been packed for nearly a month.

Congrats to The Girl on that win – that’s a tough one! Oh goody, a window into a hallway; just what you want to see.
