The Sunday Salon: My Pooptacular Weekend

Sunday Salon

This weekend we puppy sat for eleven, Golden Retriever pups (6 weeks old), her mama, a German Shepherd and a Yorkie. Let me tell you, those pups are pooping machines. I have never seen so much doggie doo. Very cute and chubby, but with eleven of them, one of them is always pooping or peeing.

On the home front, I got up this morning to do a little Christmas shopping, saw that the Otter Pup left me a little present of her own so I bent over to pick it up and there went  my back. I collapsed, completely unable to move and what is in front of me?  Her freakin’  care package. There is nothing quite like writhing on the floor in pain next to a pile of doggie doo. Of course, the Hub was washing the car so I was like that for quite some time. The Girl finally ran out and told him this, “Mom poked herself!” Wha?? How did she get that from all my screaming.

I’m pooped.

Now I am on the couch, unable to move. The Girl keeps asking me, “When are we going shopping?” and I can barely hold this laptop on my lap without wincing in pain. It sort of feels as if it will pop back into place and I am hoping it does because I had planned to finish my shopping today. Might not happen.

Thank goodness I got the stew going in the Crock-Pot before all this happened. Later, we are just watching football and maybe I can get some reading in. Maybe.  Since I am having trouble typing this I am going to cut this short, but Happy Sunday to all of you. Hope you are enjoying a nice cup of coffee and the paper.

I can see my paper across the room, maybe some kind soul will bring it to me.

  1. Oh no! I have thrown out my back like that before, and the pain is excruciating. I know just what you are going through, and think that a day on the couch spent with books is just what you need. I hope that you are feeling better soon, and I am glad that the poop is over! No more poop is necessary in your life right now!

    1. I do feel a little better today. I sure wish I could have stayed home though but I have stuff here at work I need to deal with.

  2. So sorry to hear about your back, hope you are back to feeling better soon! No pun. intended. I can’t imagine having all those poop machines at my house, you must be a saint!

I am hoping to finish Evanovich’s Three To get Deadly!

  3. Well thank God for that crockpot, woman! I know I should not be laughing but their are some comedic aspects to this story. Just not the back pain. Take care of yourself and hope all is back to normal quickly.

    1. Oh trust me, I laughed too and so did the husband and kids and I swear, the Otter Pup seemed to be smirking at me. I feel a bit better today. Not as hunched over as yesterday.

  4. Ti, you’re the best! The way you tell this story I couldn’t help but laugh. And I am sure at the moment you were lying on the floor in agony with the Otter pup’s gift near by, there was nothing to laugh about.
Golden retriever pups are one of the cutest things on this planet. I have to admit, though, that 11 of them is quite a bit and the amount they poop would definitely overwhelm me finally.
You’ve dealt with enough doggy doo-doo this weekend for a lifetime!

Maybe it’s time to teach The Girl about cyber shopping! Of course the repercussions could be bad!

Good thing you’ve got the crockpot…wish I could get you the paper.

Hang in there, Ti , I hope your back feels much better very soon :o)

    1. These pups are so darn cute but they were a mess by the time I got there. They travel in packs of 3-4 and wander out of the pen so I’d get there and there would be several of them missing. Scary! They need something more secure than what they are currently using.

  5. Good Lord. I hate it when I crack my back and suffer next to poo. Maybe a hot bath and massage???? And yes, I am getting the same song and dance from my daughter. Never mind that we honestly don’t have one evening available at the moment, she wants to do “winter shopping”. It would be OK if she could shop in an hour or two, but she is all about the whole afternoon. It is more than I can bear. Get better soon!

  6. So sorry to hear about your back… and the poo! I hope that by the time you read this message you are feeling better (maybe good enough to get some shopping done).

    Rest up!

  7. Oh My … what a horrible weekend. I can’t imagine how quickly puppies become less cute when you have to deal with their poop. And then to have your back give out in front of a pile of doggie doo? Horrific!! I hope you feel better soon!

  8. It is downright wrong how much this post made me giggle. I am so sorry for your pain. Truly sorry. Can I go back to laughing now?

I stepped in a wee present from the Murph man the other day. Only it wasn’t wee and not a present.

    Hope you feel better soon.

  9. Oh my goodness, I hope you feel better soon!! That’s scary and what an awful moment for that to happen. I cannot imagine caring for that many puppies!!! My one jack russell takes up quite enough of my energy, LOL.

    1. I’ve never seen so many puppies at once. They move as a unit in little packs. Too cute. So messy though!

    1. My back has yet to pop back into place but it feels like it wants to. I am at work today but getting from the car to my office was interesting. Thank goodness it was dark and too early for others to see me hunched like the Hunchback.

  10. Total nightmare. And really, how undignified to fall to the floor face-to-face with dog poop. I am sorry that you experienced that and hope your back is feeling better. I hurt mine over Thanksgiving and am all better now!

    1. This happens to me at least once a year. I am sure it happens because I spend most of my working day sitting in a chair with little or no movement. I feel a little better today and my back feels as if it is close to popping back into place. I am at least two inches shorter now. Seriously. It’s like my spine compressed or something.

  11. There is nothing more painful and frustrating than have your back go out. Ouch! Hope you are feeling much better today.

Those puppies sure sound cute. But so much work. Hope they find great homes.

  12. Hi Ti, hope your back is feeling better, I’m still working on getting my blog in order…your instructions have been very helpful! Hope to get started in the next week or so. I have to say I was kind of laughing while reading your puppy story but I’ve had my neck go out of place so I feel your pain! Reading has been slow for me but trying to finish the stranger you seek which I really like. Take care

  13. I hope you are fine now! It sucks that something like that happened, but your dogsitting weekend sounded fun! All those dogs to play with – how exciting!
