The Sunday Salon: Fun in the Sun

What I’m Doing

Right now I am making a Green Chile Corn Casserole and Bacon Wrapped Club Crackers for a pool party that we are going to this afternoon. I forgot the most important ingredient for the corn casserole (you guessed it, the corn!) so I had to run to the store this morning at the crack of dawn to get it. So much for sleeping in!

Yesterday we hit the beach and took my son’s friend with us. Let me tell you, with all of the electronics that these kids have combined, you’d never think they’d settle for a sand bucket and a couple of shovels but they played with these for hours. Must remember this at Christmas.

Right now I am reading Fear The Worst . I am also reading Bridge of Sighs for my book club and The Seamstress for Book Club Girl’s Blog Talk show with the author which takes place this Thursday, August 6th. Ack! It’s August already!

What I Did

I reviewed one book this week, Historic Photos of the Chinese in California by Hannah Clayborn. It was a fascinating look at California history. It’s part of a series and I would be interested in seeing some of the other books in the series.

It’s been a good week for reading but I am reading so many books that it doesn’t feel as if I am making much progress. I try not to do that but it happens sometimes when there are too many books that I want to read.

What I’m Excited About

I am very excited about Book Blogger Appreciation Week. Details can be found here but from now until August 15th you can nominate your favorite book blogs. You don’t even have to have a blog to nominate. To nominate your favorite blogs click here.

I will be announcing the winners of my Foreign Tongue / Lip Gloss giveaway tomorrow. I can’t wait to see who won!

I hope you are all enjoying the weekend with a good book in hand 🙂

Then and Now: Happy Birthday E1!

It’s my son’s 11th birthday today so I am taking a walk down memory lane. He was only 18-months-old in this picture. He always looked much older than his age.

He was into Hawaiian shirts at the age of 2. Watch out Tom Selleck.

At the age of 3, he was beginning to tire of my picture habit.

Then at 4, he got sweet again.

Fast forward a bit. This is my fave “Mom, take the pic” pic.

This was at a school performance. He HAD to smile so I took advantage of the moment.

In his ensemble costume for The Music Man.

Dressed as “The Constable” for The Music Man.

To me, he still looks the same but with more hair. Happy 11th Birthday Buddy! We love you!
