RIP X Group Read: The Quick

The Quick RAL

In connection with R.I.P. X, the Estella Society is hosting this group read along of The Quick, by Lauren Owen. I had not planned to join in, but another blogger (Belle), mentioned that she was going to look for a copy. I can’t resist a read along when my favorite people are involved. So, I got myself a copy and I am ready to go!

Goodreads has this to say about the book:

For fans of Anne Rice, The Historian, and The Night Circus, an astonishing debut, a novel of epic scope and suspense that conjures up all the magic and menace of Victorian London.

Hello! I am so there. Doesn’t it sound good? Will you be reading it too?

The original post says the details will be noted over at Fig and Thistle but as of this writing, I haven’t seen the linky post yet. Nevertheless, I am reading along.

Movie Review: Insidious, Chapter 2

Insidious 2

A movie review? On a book blog? I know, I know. Well, it’s for the R.I.P. X challenge so it’s all good.

RIP X

I won’t go in-depth because I failed to notice that what I was watching on Netflix was part 2 and not actually the first film but seriously, it played out like it was the first film. I had no idea that it was a sequel until I looked it up.

Anyway, it’s the perfect ghost story for this time of year. It’s a bit scary, but no gore and no language. The Lambert family tries to figure out why they are connected to the spirit world and all sorts of strange happenings take place. Their one son has a special talent for going places while he sleeps and the husband is a little confused over his identity. The wife, played by Rose Byrne is great.

Overall, I liked this film. It has a creepy house, strange children, and just enough suspense to keep you on your toes. I kind of want to see the first film and there is even a part 3, which came out not too long ago. Have you seen Insidious?
