The Week Ahead: October 13-19, 2008

Looks like I am gearing up for another busy week and October is almost half way over with. I’m starting think about Thanksgiving already. I know. Someone, please strike me now. Any good recipes??

Monday, October 13, 2008 – I have to skip yoga today because I am leaving work early to take Kidlet #2 for her kindergarten physical. However, when I called to make the appointment, they told me that Kidlet #1 had to come in too, so I will be holding down both kids while they get their required boosters. Not fun!! I also have to take Kidlet #1 to rehearsal this evening but that’s okay because that translates to reading time for me.

Tuesday, October 14, 2008 – Big meeting today for our division. A grand way to start the day (insert sarcasm here). As for reading, I had to put In The Woods on hold as I got a late notice for Infidel and the library won’t let me renew it. That means that I am incurring charges for however long it takes me to finish it. I hate that, but I have to finish it because it’s my book club’s pick this month. It started off slow but it’s picking up a bit now.

Wednesday, October 15, 2008 – Another meeting this morning then yoga at lunch. Dinner tonight with a friend.

Thursday, October 16, 2008 – I have my own doc appointment so I will be late for work this morning. Husband is meeting up with friends this evening so it will be just the kids and me. Plan to write my review of Infidel but probably won’t be able to post it until after my group meets. I don’t like to tip my hand before the group meets.

Friday, October 17, 2008 – Nothing scheduled for me. My husband is taking my son to the high school football game this evening so it will be me and Kidlet #2. We’ll probably spend the evening reading as she loves story time. I also need to get some pictures into frames so that I can get them up on the wall. It takes me forever to get them hung.

The Weekend – Saturday night we are going to a bowling fundraiser. I am not a bowler but I’m game and it sounds like fun. Sunday there is a special event going on at one of the local high schools that we may check out. It’s an expo for kids so there will be all sort of activities and the best part…it’s free! Can’t beat that.

Nothing spectacular to speak of but maybe that’s a good thing. I need a breather. What’s going on this week for you?

Win some. Lose some.

Audition results have been posted and my son did not get the part he wanted, but was given another part in the show. It’s also a speaking part, but a smaller part and not one that he wanted.

It was a rough night for him. However, sometimes I think it’s good for my kids to feel disappointment. I know that sounds awful but I think that it’s important for him to appreciate what he has been given, even though things did not turn out exactly as planned.

Today, he woke with a renewed sense of purpose and has decided to embrace his new role. I’m relieved.

So on my way in to work today, that tree that I mentioned in my other post was looking beautiful once again and after asking around I was told that it is a Floss Silk tree. I think I may need to plant one in my yard.

Anyway, it made me smile and after a tough night of tears and angst, what more can I ask for?
