Sunday Matters: And So It Goes

Sunday Matters

This past week I’ve noticed more progress in my recovery journey. It feels great but it always takes me by surprise. For instance, I hosted book club at my house this past week. We take turns and it was my turn this month. I was a little nervous, to be honest, because I had not hosted since my brain surgery and I was a little freaked out about it.

BUT, it went swimmingly. The weather cooperated, we sat outside, had good food and a great discussion. As I sat there I thought about how far I’ve come since the surgery and it made me so happy! These types of milestones are  huge!

Right Now:

No student ministry today because they leave for camp. This means my weekend is wide open. I really need to do some purging. Things just piled up around me these last few months.

This Week:

I don’t have anything planned for this week. I need to write-up a couple of reviews but that’s it.

I’m finishing up King’s new one, You Like It Darker. Overall, I am enjoying it. It’s really fun to listen to on my commute.

My next read is House of Cotton

House of Cotton

Grateful for:

Quiet moments. Sometimes, my head gets loud. Do you know what I mean? The constant self-chatter, the reminders to do this or that, the worries that sneak in, etc. So when I have a quiet moment I really sink into it. Especially now, post surgery. I force myself to slow down and it’s a good thing.

  1. Glad you are feeling/noticing improvements!

ah.. the chatter in my head! As if 1 hour of sitting quietly will sabatoge the day. The clutter can wait. Exercising can wait. Busy can wait?

King’s latest was hit or miss. Some great ones. Some that had me questioning why they were included in a horror book

Hope you keep on your path to recovery

  2. I am so happy to hear that you are noticing recovery moments. I do think they are so important for one’s mental state.

And quiet moments. I don’t have nearly enough of them so this is a good reminder to work on that. When I sit down I tend to read, blog, read other blogs, watch TV, etc. I’ll work on that.

    Enjoy the week!

  3. Glad you are getting back into a “normal” routine, Ti. I hope the weather doesn’t get too hot so you can continue with your walks.

I will eventually listen to King’s latest, but I’m in no hurry at this point.

  4. Ti, I’m so happy to hear that your recovery is going well. How nice that you got to host your book group. Take care of yourself and prayers continue for you. 🙂

  5. That’s wonderful that book club night went well … and your recovery is coming along. So pleased to hear. I think slowing down is good advice. And being able to be around bookish friends too on a lovely evening. Have a good week.

  6. I am glad to hear that your are marking your milestones in recovery and that you are forcing yourself to sit and be still and quiet. We all need that advice, I think. Me, especially.

I hope King’s latest is good. I haven’t gotten it yet because I’m on the waiting list at the library. No book buying for me.
