I’ve Been Off the Grid a Little…

…not intentionally, but when there is a show in the works I go into this weird, alternate reality where nothing gets cooked, nothing gets read and the house is less than clean. Like that? Less than clean. Imagine show shoes peppered throughout the house, costume pieces all over the place, things where they shouldn’t be. I do not have OCD but clutter gets me every time.

However, that is all behind us now until the next show. Grease went well. It was strange to hear young people come around a corner saying “I need a cigarette” but they really did… a prop cigarette. I handed out many this past weekend. The Girl did well with her part of the duet but her mic went out. That’s live theatre for you.

School starts this week so we had back-to-school prep to do along with registration. I have a bin of school supplies in the garage so we will probably raid that as we have not been able to shop.

On Friday my uncle is coming out to visit with his wife and we will all head out for dinner. Looking forward to that.

Sometime soon, I plan to prep for the King “Sleeping Beauties” read along. The book comes out September 26! I seriously cannot wait. It’s 700+ pages!

Sleeping Beauties

Is anyone excited for fall to hit? I feel it in the air and I hope this year I can enjoy it.

  1. Ti, I know what you mean. I haven’t posted anything in ages – just too busy with life right now. Sounds like you are, too – then again, you always are. I don’t know how you do it, but you manage to get it all done πŸ™‚ That’s so great the show turned out so well. Congrats to The Girl on her duet! Hope you have a great time visiting with your uncle. And yes, the new King! I can’t wait for it πŸ™‚ Hope you have a great rest of the week!

    1. I always say that I need one more day added to the weekend and then I’d be good. I’d call it FUNday. LOL.

King. He is all over the place these days. Will you be in the theatre to see IT when it comes out? I need a good group of people to see it with. I hate that they shot it in two parts though.

  2. I’m really interested in the new King book! I almost feel like it could be hit or miss completely. I’m so ready for fall, it’s my favorite season and I love when the leaves change colors here in Ohio:)

    1. I know what you mean about a possible hit or miss with King. Collaborations can go either way really. He seems to be all over the place these days. So many film and TV projects. I really hope this one is good. It sounds good and I love a good King chunkster to settle in with.

  3. It seems as though you had very little summer. Will you see the Stephen King movie or did you already? I think I even want to see it.

    1. I know. I did get what seemed like a lot of beach days in and I have one more this weekend so I guess I had a summer. Doesn’t feel like it when you have to work through it.

The movie. It got some horrible reviews. I don’t know why King movies always lack… I don’t know, substance? Quality? I love the key players but will probably wait for it to hit DVD. I will be in the theatre for IT though. I just wish it wasn’t in two parts.

  4. I can see why you get into a zone during show time. I’m glad to see it went so well. I feel like I’ve watched your kids grow up and it’s gone by way too fast.

    1. It has gone by fast hasn’t it? I always think it’s just fast to me but you guys have known these kids for a really long time. Almost ten years. My daughter is skipping the orientation today which I think is a bad idea but her brother is going to walk her around the campus tonight.

  5. I’m SO excited for fall, but since I live in Louisiana I still have a ways yet to go before the season arrives. Like, if it does at all. :p

I really, really sympathize about the clutter. I am prone to being lazy and letting clutter accumulate, and I think that I underestimate how heavily it weighs on my psyche. Clutter. Down with it.

    1. I seriously love everything about fall even though we don’t really see evidence of it here in the form of weather. There’s something about the quality of light.

      1. Light, yes. And temperature. Cool days, cold nights. A trace of woodsmoke, leaves turning, leaves falling, pumpkins, hay bales, flannel shirts, sweaters.

  6. Ready for fall.. yes!!!! I haven’t read too much lately that wasn’t self help or therapy. A seven hundred pager sounds good. Can’t wait to hear what you think. It’s probably bittersweet when the shows are over…. but on to the Fall school year. Those kids of yours….. πŸ’—πŸ’—πŸ’—

    1. My kids. I know! They keep me busy. My son is working for the city and has a big proposal due and a renewal/new position with the city kind of hinges on it. He has to finish it today. Good thoughts appreciated.

  7. We are getting ready for college drop-off ourselves. Connor has clothes everywhere, and bedding and stuff everywhere else. It is going to be so odd not having him home with us, but I am looking forward to getting his stuff out of my living areas.

      1. He moves in on Monday. He ended up picking his BFF as his roommate after recycling through three different ones that ended up wanting to room with other people.

  8. I can’t even imagine how busy that show must have been for you. I’m glad it went well though. I hope you enjoy the new King. I have others to catch up on first.

  9. Hi Ti, so sorry to hear about the darn mic Ugh. Can’t believe school is already starting there. I need summer to last but I like fall books & movies. Enjoy your week.

    1. I love fall food, movies, candles, books. I love it all.

The Girl’s transition to high school was seamless. She tries out for volleyball today so my fingers are crossed. If she makes it her schedule will change. I think we will know by Wednesday.

I love the feel of summer but in reality, it’s still just as busy for me.

  10. As much as I don’t like the extreme heat, I am not eager for summer to be over. I love long evenings on the patio. Fall means those are drawing to a close soon. But I’ve done a decent job the past couple of years of making myself enjoy all of the things about fall that I do love, so we’ll see how that goes this year. It’s been a weird year and I’m not confident.
