Sunday Matters: I Am Done With The Beast

Sunday Matters

Friends, it’s been a challenging week. Whatever energy I had, left. My daughter did not get a part in the show she auditioned for which means she will be in ensemble. That made the rest of the week like a tightrope walk on a very thin rope and the tip-toeing around exhausted me (insert dramatic faint with a hand to the forehead).

Right Now:

The time change. Ugh. Spring forward makes me grouchy. We went to church earlier this week to attend a special event so we got to sleep in today. That made up for it.

This Week:

This should be an excellent week. No big appointments or projects at work. It would be really great if I could get a handle on my house and clear out some clutter that’s been accumulating.

Reading:

Did the earth move recently? Did you hear a clap of thunder or see a rainbow? No? Because I finished Ulysses!!! Folks, this makes me very happy! I will talk more about that later this week and next but I can happily say, “I am done!”

With all this free reading time, I am finishing up The Lonely Hearts Hotel and The Fall of Lisa Bellow. Next up, The Barrowfields and The Things We Carried.

Watching:

There was a lot going on last week so I have to catch-up on last week’s episode of Bates Motel. I know Normy is flipping his lid.

The Walking Dead is in a honeymoon period right now which is the calm before every storm. These moments of calm frustrate me because they are slow. I want Carol to gear-up and lose her Buddhist monk persona and make some heads roll.

As for movies, I have Bridget Jones’s Baby but I don’t know if we will have time to watch it today.

Making:

These days, I’m really leaning towards becoming a vegetarian again. Simple, meatless meals. This one is from Oh She Glows. So fresh and colorful.

Veg Bowl

Grateful for:

The people who consistently lift my spirits.

That’s all I’ve got. What’s your Sunday look like?

  1. I am so glad your upcoming week is less filled with stuff! I love weeks like that. We are eating much less meat lately. Roasted veggies are all I seem to want. We have been getting great strawberries, too. They taste so good when it’s snowing outside!

    1. I had to get strawberries for my daughter yesterday. I am not a big strawberry fan. Weird, huh? I don’t like the texture.

  2. Congratulations on finishing; it really is an accomplishment. I am sorry your daughter didn’t get the part. I know how that is, it creates tension in the house! I am starting a new Jacqueline Winspear today–Maisie Dobbs here I come!

    1. Enjoy your book. I am feeling the need to get a summer reading list together but it’s a little early for that. I think our 90 degree temps had something to do with it.

  3. Sorry about the part in the play – know that was heartbreaking – but, will the ensemble be OK enough? She’s a teen – probably not. I’m amazed that you finished ULYSSES! I bet every book you read will seem short for a long time. LOL

    1. My daughter really likes this particular show so she plans to make the best of it. It’s hard though. We both had to give up summer camp this June for her to participate. Her as part of the student ministry and me as a leader.

  4. Have a wonderful week and enjoy not having the heft of that behemoth to carry around with you anymore! I am supposed to be doing laundry right now and getting ready for not being home next weekend but can’t seem to bother. I would much rather just sit here and read. Daylight Savings Time sucks.

    1. Thank you! Daylight Savings Time is a real pain in my butt. My body just has a hard time with it. Not sleeping. Waking up and every few minutes. Just ugh. I did notice the scent of jasmine this morning which kind of pulled me out of my funk. Definitely a sign of spring. Oh, and my backpack is so much lighter not having the carry around the Beast.

  5. Sorry The Teen didn’t get the part she wanted – that really rots! Glad your week isn’t going to be a crazy one 🙂 Yay for finishing Ulysses!! Spring forward is the WORST! TWD – hurry up and give us something to sink out teeth into!! Veggie bowls and fruit bowls are pretty much bliss to me lately. Hope you have a terrific week!!

    1. I bought hummus to put into my veggie bowl and I’ve been dipping into it here and there. I am just craving non-meat things right now. I have no idea why.

  6. Sorry to hear your daughter did not get the part she wanted. That’s a bummer. The time change is killing me. We had a packed weekend, and the loss of the hour really has exhausted me.

Suffice to say, I’m still not done with Part 2 of Ulysses, but I’m still going. I’ll finish it, but it’s going to take me a long while yet. The schedule was a bit too ambitious for me…lol
